Hawthorn Football Club is currently wearing a jumper with stripes on the back and a white panel in which the black numbers are located, This jumper is a "replica" of a jumper used in the period of 1955-1974.
As a move to the modern era in 1975 Hawthorn decided to drop the white panel and stripes and produced a Plain Gold Back and Brown numbers, a move that proved popular.
During our Golden Era from 76-91 which claimed 7 out of our 10 Premierships we wore this Golden Back Jumper with pride and struck fear into all opposition.
This was the way forward until a "knee jerk" reaction in 2006 when during a fad where "retro" became cool again and the AFL experimented with "Heritage" rounds.
Hawthorn FC changed our beloved modern jumper and reverted back to the White Panel/Striped Back Jumper on a permanent bases that has lasted from 2006 - 2010.
From 2011 onwards lets Bring Back Our Jumper that we used in our MOST SUCCESSFUL ERA, an era where warriors like Matthews, Knights, Brereton, Dunstall & Dipper wore this jumper with High Distinction.
