Sign to Close Greenbrier County Schools Due to Flu

The flu outbreak has been immense in Greenbrier County and the surrounding areas, we strongly feel that our schools need to close down to give our children the required days to recover, which is 5 to 7 days. During this time, the schools and buses should be disinfected thoroughly. The flu is affecting the children's attendance and they are getting behind on their work. Many children have died from the flu from around the country and we need to take every possible action to try and avoid this and end this epidemic. The children are falling behind because once they return to school they have to focus on the current work while trying to make up 5 days of make up work. We believe that the children's welfare is far more important than an attendance incentive. With many schools already closing due to this issue, we believe GBC needs to follow suit. We want the schools to be closed for 5 to 7 days so that the schools and buses can be sanitized. This will also allow our children time to recover and return to a healthier environment.
