- Target:
- Postmaster General Donahue U.S. Postal Service
- Region:
- United States of America
Thank You to all that have signed and supported this campaign as well as expressing your views.
The petition was able to achieve educating the public of Central Ma on what is happening to one of the most profitable mail processing plants in New England. It has also made the public aware of how closing this plant and lowering the mail delivery standards will affect each and every one of us in our daily lives.
The Postal Service is more than just another Government agency. It is vital to our community and tied to our economy in in every way, from basic communication to life saving medicine that must be delivered on time.
Literally thousands of jobs and industries are tied into our postal system. In an economy that is struggling back to life and full health the massive failure of this organization will plunge this frail economy into chaos. We the American public can not allow this to happen, please write to the Postal Regulatory Commission and ask them not to change the delivery standards that are now in place. In the age of the internet the American Public does not want or need a slower Postal Service.
The Postal Service, is a SERVICE, you the people have the power to make it stay that way. Take the time as you did to sign this petition and force Congress and the Senate to do the right thing. Write a letter.
Once our Postal Service is decimated and no longer effective it will be too late.
We have all taken this service for granted and expected the mail to always be in the mailbox when we look for it.
You the people of Central Massachusetts have raised your voices with a signature, its time to ask your neighbors, friends and family members to do the same.
Make enough noise that our elected representatives hear us. Make enough noise that the Postal Regulatory Commission hears us. Make enough noise that our Postmaster General hears us. Don't let them close one of the best processing plants in New England just because they can.
Keep the service in Postal Service. Let's work together as the American people always have and fix what needs to be fixed, the right way.
As many of you have probably heard, despite all of our hard work the Postmaster General of the United States has unilaterally decided to ignore Congressional and public recommendations and begin the process of doing away with the current delivery standards for virtually all classes of mail.
As a component of the plan to severely downgrade delivery standards, the Postal Service has unveiled a plan to close 250 Processing Plants and thousands of Post Offices throughout the United States of America starting immediately.
The USPS Central Massachusetts Plant is on the list for immediate closure and the USPS has estimated that the move will cost 693 Central MA Postal Workers their jobs and annually pull millions of dollars out of the local economy. Nationally, the Postal Service expects these changes to result in the loss of more than 120,000 jobs when fully implemented, at a time when this country doesn’t have a single job to spare.
The Postal Service is the largest Public Sector Employer in the USA. It is also the Largest Employer of Veterans and Minorities, and is the second largest employer in the country overall. A huge section of our economy is directly tied to the Postal Service and the prompt dependable delivery of goods and services it provides the public at reasonable rates. This move will disrupt commerce throughout the country. But, the impact will be much worse in areas such as Central MA. Our State Government Townships, Small Businesses and industries, as well as our elderly, disabled, and our less fortunate citizens will all suffer as a result of these changes. The Postal Service has claimed that by closing this processing plant there will be a savings of 7 million dollars. In fact, due to increased transportation costs, rising gas prices and lower delivery standards it is more likely to cost the Postal Service millions of dollars instead of achieving any projected savings.
Central Ma Processing Center is the top producer in the District, Profitable, Top producer in the North East for its size, 57 acres of land, plenty of room for expansion, central to all major highways, increased mail volume while decreasing work hours, modern facility with a high work ethic. It makes absolutely no business sense to close Central Ma processing Center. It should be show- cased as a model facility.
We need folks to contact their legislators and ask them to take action to stop the Postmaster General before it is too late. Additionally, we are asking folks to please write into your local papers and object to these changes. Please sign this petition.
Thank you,
We the people of Central Massachusetts, the American Public, strongly oppose the closing of the Central Massachusetts Processing Plant located in Shrewsbury Massachusetts.
The DO NOT CLOSE CENTRAL MA PROCESSING PLANT petition to Postmaster General Donahue U.S. Postal Service was written by David West and is in the category Business at GoPetition.
