Thanks to everyone who signed and supported this campaign. Together, we forced the council to rethink their plans and this development will no longer happen.
Newcastle City Council has proposed that 500 houses are built on agricultural land between Lemington Rise and Blucher.
This petition is also available as a paper copy, which you can download from the website above or by emailing mail@newcastlefirst.co.uk.
We the undersigned call on Newcastle City Council to remove the land between Lemington Rise and Blucher from the council's core strategy and for the land to remain agricultural land.
We believe the core strategy is proposing to asset strip our green spaces for profit and we call on the city council to put people and local wildlife before the interests of developers.
We do not support the plan to increase the number of houses and therefore population and cars in the Outer West by more than 30% and believe the council should also:
Rethink plans for the massive expansion of the city proposed in the core strategy;
Build on brown field sites before considering any development of open space or Green Belt;
Remove the West Road corridor from the core strategy.
The Don't Build Houses Between Lemington Rise and Blucher petition to Newcastle City Council was written by JS and is in the category Environment at GoPetition.
