The smoking ban came in a few months after my campaign so we did not succeed in getting it banned early at the local community centre bar but things are better now, 3 yrs after the ban, fewer problems for smoke allergic ppl now in going places.
I am unable to use my local community centre for the healthy activities and clubs there due to cigarette smoke from the bar drifting to the lobby and other areas. I am especially smoke-sensitive and suffer a very bad reaction to even small amounts of it.
I moved to Hampton a year and a half ago and feel very excluded from being part of local life because of the community centre not being totally smoke-free, unlike most buildings of this type.
I am sure there are many other locals who feel the same way so let's work together to get a change for the better even before the Health Act comes into force.
We, the undersigned users and potential users of the White House Community Centre (45 The Avenue, Hampton, TW12), prefer for it to become a completely smoke-free building, because on many occasions smoke from the bar drifts out into other areas, causing discomfort and a health hazard for both users and staff.
We therefore petition the White House Community Association to make the whole building no smoking with immediate effect, for the safety and comfort of the non-smoking majority within our community.
