Stop the proposal to rezone our communities from Henry Middle School to Middle School #8

As mentioned in the document at http://www.leanderisd.org/docs/1-AZRecomm.pdf :

* Middle School (MS) #8 is set to start Fall 2011. MS #8 is located on County Road 179 between Ronald Reagan Blvd. and County Road 175

* Leander ISD Attendance committee has proposed sending students from Avery Ranch communities to the new MS #8, from their currently assigned Henry Middle School

*While the average distance for students to Henry Middle School is about 2.5 miles, the average distance to MS #8 is about 5.5 miles (as measured from the intersection of Parmer and Avery Ranch)

* While this proposed change had intention of increasing enrollment, and balancing the socio-economic aspects, it is detrimental to the safety and efficiency of our kids, with the added busing. The Attendance committee should be able to come up with a better proposal to meet its goals.

We must stop this plan now. This change, if it is passed will affect our community, our children, and even the value of our homes.

Public Meetings are scheduled for September 29, 2010, 7 p.m. in the Vista Ridge High School cafeteria, and September 30, 2010, 7 p.m. in the Cedar Park High School lecture hall.

It is very important and vital to our cause that we have as many people present at the public hearing meetings.

Please sign the petition but most importantly, please attend the meetings on Sept. 29th and Sept. 30th. We can not stop this proposed change without this community coming together and showing the Board Members how strongly we feel against this proposed plan.
