On June 20, 2009, during the Alberta Physiotherapy Association's (APA's) Annual General Meeting, the members voted to dissolve the Association, thereby setting into motion the amalgamation of the College and Association creating a "single governance body for the Alberta physiotherapy profession." (Further details can be found on the College of Physical Therapists of Alberta (CPTA)website.)
It has been reported by the APA that only 45% of all registered Physical Therapists in Alberta are APA members.
We, the undersigned, call on the College of Physical Therapists of Alberta (CPTA) to allow all registered Physical Therapists in Alberta the right to vote on the issue of whether or not to proceed with amalgamation thereby creating "one governance structure or representative organization for the profession" of Physical Therapy in Alberta.
