(For Freddie Mercury).. please sign to stop the Hollywood Movie

Ok, since no one that was close to Freddie gives a shit about what HE might have wanted, after educating myself on Freddie..I believe Freddie Mercury WOULD NOT like a Hollywood movie about his life with Queen. Freddie despised the media and the press..he was a very private man.

Remember that Freddie was a unique individual and no one could ever be Freddie, not even in a movie.

Stop Paramount from delaying and converting G.I. Joe Retaliation

I thought the film industry’s infatuation with 3D was temporary. But it hardly seems like they’re slowing production on converting movies to 3-D, 3D as a whole affects even the best films in a bad way, it is an impediment to quality filmmaking. It compromises much of the art of film.

Brightness, contrast, image quality, depth of field are all sacrificed to accommodate a gimmick. Plus movie theaters often give 3-D better treatment, usually offering 3-D versions of films two screens, while the 2-D version only get one screen.

The latest casualty of this 3-D trend is G.I. Joe Retaliation, it was originally scheduled to be released on June 29th, but Paramount abruptly decided to delay it's release until March 2013 to convert it to 3-D, citing focus groups asking why the film wasn't in stereo. But it's clear the real reason for Paramounts sudden decision is due to the lackluster performance of Battleship at the box-office and wanting to stretch out consumers pockets more to maximize they're profits.

This decision is a bad idea for many reasons, first off, 3-D showings usually take in less revenue compared to 2-D ones, even for a hugely successful film like Deathly Hallows part 2, 3-D showings accounted for less then half of the film's profits(48% to be precise), films like The Avengers are the exception and not the rule.

Delaying Retaliation and giving it an unnecessary conversion will most likely cause it to lose more money then it will gain. Not only will fans be turned off by the 3-D conversion, releasing the film in March next year would be even worse then releasing it a week before Amazing Spider Man, by next year, the excitement for the film will have died down, and the poor performance of John Carter earlier this year proved that March is not a good time to release a film intended for the blockbuster season.

All of these things combined will pretty much guarantee Retaliation will flop, and even if it is a success in spite of all this, the money it makes more then likely won't be enough to offset the costs of conversion. Bottom line, the film has more to lose then to gain with the delay. Hasbro will also be affected, as the tie-ie merchandise for the film was scheduled months in advance, the sudden delay will likely end up costing Hasbro quite a bit of money, they won't take this snap decision lightly and neither should you.

Get 500 Years Later and Motherland documentary on SABC

500 Years Later for 4 years has been stuck with SABC in the negotiation process. They are trying to ignore this powerful multi-award winning documentary which deals with the legacy of slavery and oppression in Africa and the Diaspora. Even if you don't live in Africa be part of Pan-African change by demanding our Motherland is representative of the majority interest.

South Africa a highly racialized society which is plagued with the legacy of apartheid, which was an assault on the human dignity of African people. That trauma is identical to that suffered by the African Diaspora. Despite South Africa's claims at creating a new South Africa for all, the media remains largely distant from content that empowers the African majority. It white wash issues of race and self-determination leaving the people with deep internalize feelings of self-hatred and self-ignorance.

The sequel to 500 Years Later is Motherland which deals with the most concise story of Africa. Despite even having in the South African president all attempts to license this film to the national broadcaster are ignored.

BRING HOMEBOUND "HOME"

In 2010, a family member, Jeremiah Ocañas, began a campaign to raise funds to shoot the film HOMEBOUND. In 2011, his dream came true and the filming process began. He worked very hard recruiting friends, family members, and the entire community of EL Campo to help with the project. It is my understanding that the film has been screened in Los Angeles; and others have seen it via a private on-line link.

Due to personal issues with the production company, my nephew had to walk away in post-production. However, since he was instrumental in bringing a community together to create HOMEBOUND, we would request a copy of the movie for one day so that he can share it with the residents, including family and friends of El Campo, Texas with a personal screening. As such, he would be able to personally thank his community for coming together to help a small town film maker realize a dream and celebrate with all those who made the film possible.

Everyone is anxious to see the work of the community of El Campo, Texas now that the film has been completed.

DON'T recast Sienna Guillory as Jill Valentine in 'Resident Evil 5'

There is heavy word being spread around that Sony Pictures is considering of recasting Sienna Guillory as Jill Valentine. The potential recasting is very worrisome and devastating to every living, passionate 'Resident Evil' fan around the world because we truly believe that Sienna is the ONE and ONLY Jill Valentine. When Sienna Guillory graced the screens as the beloved Jill Valentine in 'Resident Evil: Apocalypse', we instantly knew that she was BORN to play one of the most iconic characters from the games. Sienna nailed and perfected the role in every way - she was flawless!

It will be absolutely selfish and stupid of Sony if they will recast Sienna as Jill because she is a HUGE fan favourite in the 'Resident Evil' community. Recasting Sienna will clearly indicate that Sony has no respect towards to the passionate fans that have been yearning for years to see Sienna return once again in a lead role in a 'Resident Evil' sequel. Sony Pictures MUST realise that if they do go ahead with the recasting, it will end up being THE killer blow to the franchise because every living fan will be too devastasted to go and see RE5 thus the movie will have a HIGH chance of performing miserably at the box office. We will be feeling too hurt as well as we will not have any faith to support the movie. Sony Pictures needs to wake up by realising that it is not all just about what the studio wants but also what the FANS want.

The success of RE5 will depend on the availability of Sienna Guillory because she is such an intergal to the franchise. Sienna is so important to the franchise that the franchise itself is at risk of losing the majority of the fans that have supported the movies throughout the years. Thus, Sony must not recast Sienna in order to avoid a massive fan outrage! It will be an act of betrayal if Sienna ends up getting flicked off the set. This will be perceived as unprofessional and rude because she has been training heavily for MONTHS to get in shape for the physically-demanding role, as well as she has been officially signed on to return since March. It is not considered as moral to ignore/recast Sienna who happens to be a very loyal fan to 'Resident Evil'.

It is your choice, Sony. Do you want to see the franchise hit a new low or see the franchise hit a new high? Also, do you want the fans and moviegoers to forever hold a grudge towards to your company? It is best not to give yourself a bad reputation. By the way, this petition is NOT the sole evidence of Sienna's popularity. Fans have expressed their disgust, anger, disappointment countless of times on Twitter and the rage continues to grow by the minute.

Please for the sake of living up to the fans' dream of seeing Sienna returning once again as the badass Jill Valentine well as to keep the future of the franchise remained intact, do NOT recast Sienna! End of story.

Save the London Lesbian and Gay Film Festival

2011 marks the 25th anniversary of the London Lesbian and Gay Film Festival. It is one of the largest and most successful film festivals in the UK, with annual attendances of 28,000, and one of the UK’s most significant LGBT cultural events.

During this time the festival has played a vital cultural role, bringing audiences together to debate and discuss an extraordinary diversity of important work. It provides a space and platform for emerging talent, for provocative and political films, for innovation. Very little of this filmmaking can be seen in the UK outside of the festival. The BFI is to be congratulated for 25 years of commitment.

However, this year’s festival will be a shadow of its former self, with a radically cut-down programme of 6 days, rather than 14 and a substantial reduction of the activities and facilities that have made it an internationally acclaimed event. Of particular concern is the loss of the annual tour of festival highlights that ensured that the festival was enjoyed by audiences across the UK.

With 15% cuts to funding as a result of the government’s spending review, the BFI is necessarily having to tighten its belt. As such it’s understandable that some cuts need to be made to its activities. However, we are deeply concerned that the substantial cuts WELL ABOVE 15% to the 2011 festival will hinder this year's success and are a move towards the BFI severing its responsibilities for the event. Few festivals thrive - or indeed survive - without the support and commitment of a major cultural body. If the BFI was to drop the LLGFF we fear for its future.

Furthermore, we understand that the BFI will reviewing the future of the festival in April after the 2011 event and we urge Amanda Nevill (amanda.nevill@bfi.org.uk) Greg Dyke (greg.dyke@bfi.org.uk) and Board of Governors at BFI, Ed Vaizey (vaizeye@parliament.uk) and Boris Johnson (mayor@london.gov.uk) to ensure that:

The BFI commits to organising and hosting the annual LLGFF as an integral part of its cultural programme.

The BFI commits to ensure that the festival reaches out to audiences across the UK through a tour of cinemas or by making films available through its online platforms.

The BFI explores ways to reduce expenditure while maintaining the integrity of the festival’s programme, and in particular safeguards such vital elements as length of programme, pay for the festival curators, some industry services, and a budget to help filmmakers attend the Festival to present their work.

The BFI explores new avenues for support from individual donors.

The BFI considers the impact on its own membership base (25% of BFI members book tickets for the LLGFF) if it was to drop the festival.

End Re-makes of Asian Films

American directors and producers (specifically Roy Lee - the powerhouse of Asian remakes of the film industry) constantly remake Asian films; horrors, comedies, dramas, etc, purely because they have no creativity of their own and want to waste a colossal amount of money.

Their supposed ultimate goal is to share these unique films with the West; that they enjoy the culture exchange, but really they don't care and actually believe they can make the original movies better (but we all know the remakes are horribly worse). If they really wanted to share these movies, wouldn't they just subtitle them instead of writing an entirely new script?

This is a petition for people who want to see the end to the butchery and disappointing remakes of Asian films.

The remakes are not only a disappointment to movie critics and movie fans alike, but they also cause the fans of the originals to become less of fans because the atrocious remakes leave a bad taste in the mouth, so to speak.
