4G PITCHES FOR WALES

After the recent success achieved by our national team, I’m asking our football association of WALES to re-invest the financial gains from the recent success achieved by our national team by installing 4G pitches on as many mini and junior football pitches in Wales.

I'm hoping that our FAW will now see that re-investment into our grassroots football by installing these 4G pitches, will then further lay the foundations for our continued success in the future. This will not only give each and every grassroots player the chance to play at least 40% more football during the season - it'll also give each grassroots teams a better chance of retaining player participation during the season by not having to go for an 8 week period of not even kicking a ball - of which player numbers drop.... FACT.

We as coaches of the grassroots game often see numbers drop by 10% per 2 week period of no football. With our climate as it is and as it always will be - this will never change unless these pitches are installed all over Wales.

The time to act is now - let's get a major advantage over all of our home nations and give every mini and junior child in Wales the chance to benefit from our recent success.

GPS Football Stitch-Up of the Decade

Last weekend the second last round of GPS Football was supposed to take place. You would have surely noticed the somewhat rainy, windy weather. What some of you may not have been aware of, however, was along with cats and dogs, it was raining stitch-ups on Saturday morning.

Whilst for the other GPS schools every game was called off from the mighty 11E's to the 1st XI (the pinnacle of any soccer players school career), Nudgee College and Brisbane State High School still played...

The points from Nudgee's victory then allowed them to overtake BBC on the ladder, who didn't play, like the rest of the schools, and unfairly moved them further above a number of others. These points, for some unknown reason, are still allowed to count in the competition, which then mean Nudgee are likely to steal the premiership in what will be the most unfair load of rubbish since the 2003 Australian Idol.

Whether you go to BBC or not this makes a joke of every other round the footballers have competed in, the hard work every school's 1st XI have put in week after week and the support of every single individual who has gone to watch a game of GPS Football.

Three football fans have been charged in connection with using insulting language during Tottenham Hotspur matches.

Gary Whybrow, 31; Sam Parsons, 24, and Peter Ditchman, 52, are due to appear before magistrates on February 4 accused of using the word "yid".

Whybrow, from west London, and Parsons, from Amersham, Buckinghamshire, are accused of the offence during a Europa League game against FC Sheriff on November 7.

Ditchman, from Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire, allegedly used bad language in the Barclays Premier League game with West Ham on October 6.

All three are accused of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour or disorderly behaviour within the hearing or sight of a person likely to be caused harassment, alarm or distress.

The club has a strong Jewish following, but thousands of fans have defied the warnings and used the term during chants. Please do press the SHARE button and not the recommend button as this will not show up on your time line for all to see thank you!

The Gibraltar Football Association should be allowed in the UEFA!

The Gibraltar Football Association (GFA) was formed in 1895. It is one of the world's oldest football associations.

In 1997, the GFA applied to FIFA for membership. In 1999, FIFA confirmed that the GFA conformed to the requirements, thus handing the file on to the UEFA. In 2000, UEFA and FIFA conducted a joint inspection of the football related facilities and, in consequence, produced a report stating "The FA of Gibraltar fulfils all requisite statutory conditions for admission to UEFA”.

In August 2000, the report to UEFA leaked to the Spanish media, and in consequence, both the Spanish Government and its political parties started a campaign to prevent the GFA's application from succeeding on purely political grounds. The Spanish objections were solely based on their claim of Sovereignty on Gibraltar. None of their objections were based on any sport criteria.

In December 2000, the Executive Committee of UEFA decided to appoint three independent judges to consider the legality and validity of the Spanish claims. The independent legal panel issued a report on August 2001 rejecting the Spanish objections and stating "the GFA is entitled to provisional admission as a member of UEFA”.

The applying continues and you can carry on reading on this link... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gibraltar_Football_Association

Please read as there is a lot more information there.

HANDS OFF THANKSGIVING DAY HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL GAME TRADITIONS in NEW JERSEY

148 New Jersey high school football teams played during the 2010 Thanksgiving Day/holiday period.

These 74 games represent approximately 25% of school districts statewide in 19 counties with tens of thousands attending consisting of student-athletes, cheerleaders, marching band performers, students, alumni, families and local residents who gather together on this national holiday.

Certain teams have established annual rivalries since 1906!

The New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association,
("NJSIAA"), is strongly considering plans for adoption of legislation to expand its state football tournament playoff schedule to crown a single champion in each of the four public Groups (I, II, III, IV).

These plans would require scheduling additional calendar periods allowing more teams to be bracketed.

To accomplish this near term goal (2013) certain conversations, discussions, schemes and proposals have included the elimination, unilaterally, of any and all existing Thanksgiving Day or holiday football games.

What's the explanation for terminating these games and traditions?

Thanksgiving Day games occupy a strategic calendar period that could be used to schedule state playoff games.

For some Thanksgiving Day games and traditions are "old-school", passe and meaningless. Thanksgiving Day games are an obstacle to those who seek to "modernize" and monetize interscholastic athletics.

But at what cost?

Thanksgiving Day high school football for many schools and communities is a prized cultural asset, providing an identity and a beloved element of the local quality of life.

Traditions should not and can not be trampled, dismantled or legislated into extinction by outsiders who have neither the respect, appreciation or sensitivity for these 148 distinct communities.

Thanksgiving Day high school football should not fall victim to the greed, administrative arrogance and egos of those who need to expand playoff calendar brackets.

Reinstate Tommy Langley

Tommy Langley is one of those rare individuals who played professionally for the team he followed as a boy. A dedicated, hard working forward who won the admiration of the Chelsea fans for his 'never say die' attitude on the pitch.

When Chelsea TV took off, Tommy quickly established himself as an astute and uncompromising pundit and demonstrated a unique ability to see the game from both the players and the supporters point of view. His wisdom, humour and passion for the club was always evident on screen and won him the admiration and respect of a whole new generation of Chelsea supporters.

Tommy was sacked in December 2011 after criticising the now sacked AVB for his treatment of several senior Chelsea players, a position now roundly accepted by the press, supporters, AND THE HIERARCHY OF CHELSEA FOOTBALL CLUB!

We demand the reinstatement of Tommy Langley whose only crime was to speak the truth while others were holding their tongue!

Encorage All Football Broadcasters To Implement The BBC Offside Flag Graphic

Watching a game on TV is in no way as good as actually being there at the ground yourself.

You are limited to what you can see, and in many cases are at the whim of a director who absolutely HAS to have that close up shot of Ronaldo running with the ball the second he lets one fly. Or when Steve Gerrard beats his man and puts a brilliant ball into the box for… as the camera quickly pans out… no-one. Or watching that super slo-mo of David Beckham wincing for no apparent reason and missing a huge penalty appeal in the meantime.

Not content with having to deal with someone who thinks he’s directing a live version of Eastenders, and attempting to squeeze as much emotion in as possible at the potential expense of MISSING THE GAME, we have to put up with the nature of the television screen itself.

Even when the camera has panned out as far back as possible you can only see perhaps a quarter of the pitch if you’re lucky. We all must remember on occasions getting excited following a quick break only to discover the linesman has had his flag up for several seconds (the commentator being as focussed on the ball as you are).

We became resigned to it happening. It was one of the downfalls of watching the game on TV. And as the game became a worldwide event, as every level started to receive more coverage, we became accustomed to watching the game from our living rooms.

After all, it might be much better to see the game from the stadium, but if that involves arranging travel to a stadium hundreds of miles from home to pay £50 for a ticket to a match you don’t really care who wins your warm inviting sofa is going to seem a lot more appealing.

But it still frustrates you that so much is going on that’s beyond the visual boundaries of televised football.

And then one glorious day…

You happen to be watching a game broadcast live on the BBC. As one team breaks a small icon appears in the corner of your screen. You notice it’s a small flag, like a linesman would carry. You think nothing of it, but then it happens again. The commentator hasn’t said anything, everything is going on as usual, but this flag keeps appearing whenever anyone strays offside, and before too long your loving it!

You’ve got phone calls from excited friends; text messages have been sent around the country… this is the most exciting innovation in televised sport since the Instant Replay!

You watch games on other channels, hoping they will introduce it, but no! Sky have the Red Button, HD broadcasts, every gimmick possible that you require to watch the game, and several others that are completely pointless, but use up a bit of time when you get a bit bored watching at home.

It’s been years now, and the other broadcasters haven’t taken it up! Are they jealous because the BBC beat them to it? Does the BBC have some kind of copywrite on its use? Well I’m prepared to be the one who gets these questions answered.

But not only that – I’m going to go further. I’m going to lobby that the TV companies compete to introduce any new innovations they have to expand our view of the game beyond the visual constraints of our TV sets!

And I hope you will join me. TV companies pay a lot of attention to petitions and the like. Remember, its OUR game, that for the time being they have control over but just because WE PAY FOR IT!

Return Baltimore Ravens Training Camp to the campus of McDaniel College

Since 1950 Baltimore Football has prepared for the season using McDaniel College (formerly Western Maryland College.) Summers have been filled with sunshine, family fun, and Ravens football. Unless we stand together as a fan base this will end forever. Ravens-nation has a voice, time to sound off!

Since the NFL lockout of 2011 made it impossible for the Baltimore Ravens to hold training camp at their normal location, McDaniel College, they instead used their facilities in Owings Mills, MD. Upon making this decision the Baltimore Ravens President Dick Cass made it clear that this change would not be permanent.

In an interview to BR.com Dick Cass commented on the move to the team facility and remarked that this change would not continue into the next year saying " We do fully anticipate, however, to be back at McDaniel next summer.”

Fevola Back to Carlton

Both Brendan Fevola and the Carlton Football Club made errors during Brendan's playing days. Brendan has a disease that is treatable and is being treated.

It's time for redemption and for the Club to give Brendan a chance to prove himself without all his baggage. Time for the Club to understand that they swept things under the carpet instead of dealing with Brendan's addiction via "player welfare" and discipline.

Time for the Club to make amends with Brendan and make thousands of supporters/members happy.
