Akagami Shirayuki no hime is a fantasy romance anime based on a manga of the same name by Sorata Akizuki. It follows the story of Shirayuki, a red-haired girl who becomes the court herbalist of Prince Zen of Clarines after escaping from her own country where she was forced to become a concubine of Prince Raji of Tanbarun1 . The anime has two seasons with 12 episodes each, and it aired from July 2015 to March 20161. The anime has received positive reviews from critics and fans, who praised its animation, music, characters, and story . However, the anime has not covered the entire manga, which is still ongoing and has over 100 chapters. Many fans are eagerly waiting for a third season to see the continuation of Shirayuki and Zen’s relationship and the development of other characters and plotlines.

Request for abolishment of animal experiments for cosmetics targeting SHISEIDO

Our group, Japan Anti-Vivisection Association (JAVA), has been seeking the abolition of animal experiments in Japan.

As animal testing for cosmetics has been banned in EU since March 11, 2009, we took this opportunity to launch a campaign to seek the abolition of animal testing for cosmetics, targeting SHISEIDO, the largest cosmetic company in Japan. However, the company still refuses to stop animal testing despite our repeated cry against animal experiments.

In cosmetics and household products research, painful experiments are carried out on animals, including rabbits, mice, rats and guinea pigs. Animal testing is not legally required in Japan. Only when an additional ingredient is included in “the limitation on combinations of preservatives, ultraviolet absorbers and tar dyes (positive list)” or where the maximum acceptable quantity is changed, and in manufacturing the products, such as permanent wave solutions, hair dyes, or skin lightening/whitening cosmetics, classified as “quasi-drugs” containing new ingredients (the “quasi-drugs” is the classification used only in Japan and Republic of Korea and such products are regarded as “cosmetics” in the United States and EU), animal testing data is required. So it is possible for companies to manufacture ingredients, combination of ingredients and final formulations of cosmetics without animal testing. There are about 100 cruelty-free cosmetic companies listed in JAVA’s shopping guidebook for consumers “JAVA Cosmetic Guide”, but unfortunately SHISEIDO and other major companies keep conducting animal testing simply because they want to make excessive profits by patented medicinal properties.

In spite of the fact that since March 2009 the EU has banned animal experiments for cosmetics in EU countries and the sale of cosmetic products in EU countries for which animal experiments were performed outside the EU, SHISEIDO has been keeping making products for EU consumers from ingredients that are not tested on animals, despite the continuation of animal testing in Japan and other countries.

So EU consumers are still be in danger of buying products made by the company which keeps conducting animal testing in other countries It means that EU ban cannot protect EU consumers from cruel cosmetics.

A survey conducted by JAVA has revealed that approximately 90 percent of people say they would choose a brand that has not been animal-tested. Japanese consumers also want cruelty-free cosmetics. Japanese major companies should not ignore the global trend and should stop animal testing voluntarily. If they want to develop new ingredients, they should wait until alternative non-animal testing methods have been fully established.

URGENT! STOP restart of Ohi (Oi) Nuclear Power plant, Fukui Japan

Japan moved closer to restarting the first of the nation's 50 idled nuclear plants as the prime minister signaled that he might order a start-up as early as next week.

Now, the fate of Kansai Electric Power Company's Ohi plant reactor #3 and #4 in western Japan are in the hands of prime minister Noda after Fukui prefecture formally accepted restart of 2 reactors on 16th June after Ohi town/Fukui prefectural nuclear commission approval.

Some experts are warning that another big earthquake may happen this very year. If they are right, another Fukushima disaster will be inevitable.

If the three active fault lines around Ohi power plant move together it could reach 1,270gul. The Ohi plants safety stress tests are based on 700gul, only taking into account worst case scenario for two faults not the three. Wakasa Gulf of Fukui prefecture holds not only Ohi but Takahama, Mihama, Tsuruga and Monjyu; total of 14 nuclear plants.

As a responsible member of the international community, Japan should not make a decision which exposes the world to a new risk of radioactive contamination.

We call on all citizens of the world to stand with us and appeal to Prime minister Noda before he make a final decision on the restart of Ohi nuclear power plant.

If the restart of Ohi is forced to go ahead, the rest of the nuclear power plants in Japan may also be restarted.

Please spread the word, we do not need another Fukushima!

Metal Gear Solid the Twin Snakes Playstation 2 port

Metal Gear Solid the Twin Snakes was developed and released for the Game Cube in 2004, but not for the Playstation 2.

Fans of the Metal Gear series who don't own a Gamecube will never get to experience reliving Metal Gear Solid in this extraordinary remake.

Statistically, there are more PS2 owners than there are Gamecube owners. There are so many fans of the series who would unquestionably buy the PS2 version of the game, were it ever to see light.

For these reasons alone, it is my belief that a PS2 port would be a perfectly sensible investment.
