Time for the State Government to step up and stump up

The Queensland State Labor Government needs to put its money where its mouth is.

The Federal Government has committed $173 million to the Hinkler Regional Deal for vital infrastructure and job creating projects and is working closely with the Fraser Coast Regional Council and Bundaberg Regional Council.

Meanwhile, the Queensland State Labor Government continues to ignore the residents that live here and in the regions.

What new funding will the Deputy Premier and Treasurer commit to new projects under the Hinkler Regional Deal?

And when will she stop treating the residents of regional Queensland like second-class citizens?

The Hinkler Regional Deal projects funded by the Coalition Government are:
•	$40 million for the redevelopment of the Hervey Bay CBD
•	$32 million Quay Street bypass to remove heavy vehicles and commuter traffic from this area
•	$24 million to flood-proof Torbanlea Pialba Road
•	$15 million for the Royal Flying Doctor Service Aeromedical Training Centre
•	$10 million for a multi-use conveyer at the Port of Bundaberg
•	$10 million safety upgrade for the Buxton Road intersection on the Bruce Highway
•	$9.2 million redevelopment of Hervey Bay Airport
•	$8 million for an upgrade of Bargara Road/Princess Street
•	$7.7 million to extend Urraween Road through to Boundary Road in Hervey Bay
•	$7 million for a palliative care facility at Hervey Bay
•	$5 million AgTech Precinct
•	$4 million for overtaking lanes on the Isis Highway between Bundaberg and Childers
•	$750,000 pre-feasibility study for Port of Bundaberg outer harbour

Save the Sari Club site in Bali for a Peace Park.

The Sari Club in Kuta, Bali was destroyed by a terrorist bomb blast in 2002 killing people of many nationalities. The Bali Peace Park Association Inc has attempted to purchase the site for an international peace park believing no greater message could be sent to would be terrorists than to have a peace park built on the site that was destroyed by terrorism. The Indonesian authorities have since 2002 declared the land an historic site and have said no commercial development would be allowed. It is a sacred site for many cultures and religions as well as being a site with international significance. Now all that has changed and a building permit has been issued for the site. Our only hope of preventing the building proceeding is to have Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison personally approach Indonesian President Joko Widodo with a plea to withdraw the building permit.

Get the Outer West Back on Track - We Want the Metro

A campaign has been launched to bring the Metro or a tram system to the West End of Newcastle by reinstating parts of the Tyne Valley Line closed as a result of the Beeching Cuts in 1958.

Before 1958, communities such as Newburn, Lemington and Scotswood were connected to the city centre and Hexham via a local train service.

Residents of the Outer West are unhappy that they have no access to the Metro, despite contributing through Nexus to the running of the Metro system.

It's time for the Metro to go West.

A Call for A Speedy Electoral Process

I am grateful to all of you that participated in the electoral process from its inception until now. It's humbling to say that we didn't vote on October 10 based on an individual perspective about shaping our country, but because of how we believe Liberia can be better. In the face of economic sabotage, we believe there can be economic freedom and progressive growth.

In the face of despair, we believe there can be hope. In a political system that has shut us up and divided us for too long, we are hopeful that we can be one people, reaching out for what's possible, building a more perfect union. That's the journey of our Electoral Process!

Since the October 10, 2017 election results was announced by the National Elections Commission of Liberia, a Stay Order on has now been placed on the entire electoral process. The Stay Order was placed on the electoral process by the Supreme Court of Liberia after a complaint was filed by Liberty Party which was also supported by three other political parties namely; Unity Party, Alternative National Congress and All Liberian Party.

Yes, we do support the stand for the respect of the Law and due process, but also call for a speedy legal process as already mandated by the Supreme Court of Liberia. The slowness of the legal process has plunged our country’s economy into a disaster, increased hardship and the spread of falsify information of war, etc. This situation can stall national development, derail our awesome democracy and peace and could prevent our chance of remaking history through a peaceful transition.

Protect the Marriage Act and the Natural Family

Preamble
For centuries the institution of marriage is both a symbol and protective legal framework for the natural family. Marriage is the special bond between a man and a woman to the exclusion of others.

Marriage is entered into with intent to hopefully produce and raise children, to support each other in times of need, to bring together families and to ensure the future of our people. Marriage and the natural family are the basic building blocks of civil societies in East and West.

In Australia, as in most other nations, legal marriage requires both partners to comply with a set of biological characteristics and laws: A bond of marriage cannot be formed between brothers and sisters, fathers and daughters, mothers and sons, certain other blood relatives, underage partners, persons otherwise married or partners of the same sex. These partners may love each other and decide to live together, but they cannot form a union in marriage.

If a mutually expressed feeling of love would become the sole qualification for marriage under the law, how can parliamentarians reasonably reject demands to recognise polygamous marriage, marriage with children, or marriage between relatives? After the Italian parliament recognised same-sex unions in June 2016, lobby groups are already demanding equality for polygamous unions to reflect the cultural norms of certain migrant communities.

The possible ramifications are far reaching for children deprived of natural parents: Claims of biological and genetic discrimination, accusations of creating more stolen generations and the consequences for our demographic fabric with severe fiscal implications are most obvious.

De-facto partnerships and civil law arrangements are readily available to homosexual couples. There is no need to unsettle the special bond of marriage and abandon the natural family. Marriage is rightfully defined as the union of a man and woman, formed with the intent to create a natural family and to preserve the right of children, wherever possible, to be raised by their natural mother and father. We hold this to be a self-evident natural right deserving of its special status and ongoing legal protection in our society.

Requesting Theresa May's Resignation from the Post of Equalities Minister

In the new Conservative-Liberal Democrat cabinet Theresa May has been appointed as Minister for Women and Equality.

Prior to this appointment her voting record on gay rights has included:

- Voting against further discussion on the repeal of section 28, preferring to let it stand;

- Voting against lowering the age of consent in homosexual relationships to 16;

- Voting against gay adoption rights; as well as numerous other votes that have offended both homosexual and heterosexual communities. For these reasons we do not feel she is appropriate for the post of Minister for Equality.

We would like to make it clear that this campaign is not politically motivated, and is in no way a campaign against any political party.

Furthermore it is campaigning only for Theresa May's removal from this specific post, and not from any other position that she holds.

Governor Gerald Brown: Please Endorse Bernie Sanders

Dear Governor Brown: CA is a progressive state. Bernard Sanders is the most progressive candidate running for the President of the United States. His platform includes the necessary elements for a sustainable environment, including a ban on fracking and a motion to stop the TPP. He is a fierce defender of the health and welfare of Americans and citizens of all countries. I especially favor his proposals for a single payer healthcare system and an end to the occupation of Palestinian lands.

Our current Democratic Party leaders have abandoned these goals in the name of money and world dominance by way of aggression. This limited vision platform and its supporters must not be allowed to use the Democratic Party to further its self-serving goals.

Please reconsider your endorsement of presidential candidates, and support Senator Sanders in his effort to promote a better America and world.
