Accelerate Belmont Community Path Phase 1 construction and Phase 2 design

This petition urges action to complete both phases of the Belmont Community Path, one of few remaining gaps for the Mass Central Rail Trail (MCRT) in the Boston Region. Phase 1 includes the section of the Belmont Community Path from the Fitchburg Cutoff Path at the Cambridge City Line through Belmont Center to the Clark Street Bridge and includes a pedestrian tunnel under the commuter rail connecting Alexander Avenue with the new Belmont Middle and High School campus. Phase 2 extends the Belmont Community Path from the Clark Street Bridge to the Beaver Brook Reservation with a spur to connect with the Waltham Wayside Trail at the Waltham City Line. Completion of both phases would close a critical gap in the 104-mile Mass Central Rail Trail.

Construction for Phase 1 of the Belmont Community Path was fully funded by the Boston Region Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) in June 2024 across federal fiscal year (FFY) 2026 and 2027 budgets as part of the 2025-29 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). Delays during the design process have consumed buffer time and priority attention is now required to start the construction process in 2026. The Boston Region MPO recently proposed full funding for Phase 1 in fiscal year 2026 in the Draft 2026-30 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). We want to consolidate that decision to accelerate construction of Phase 1. Signatures received by May 20 will be formally documented as Public Comments in the final TIP that will be endorsed by the MPO in June. Signatures received later will continue to urge the Town of Belmont to ensure the project is ready to begin construction in 2026.

The Town of Belmont formally began Phase 2 in December 2022 by contracting with a design firm. After quick action initially, progress has stalled for over two years as the Belmont Select Board began revisiting the route alignment in August 2023. The design firm cannot continue its process without an approved route to define the task. Given recent progress in the Boston MetroWest region, Phase 2 in Belmont and the adjacent Waltham Wayside Trail section to Beaver Street (awaiting Phase 2 completion) will be the final gap in the eastern section of the Mass Central Rail Trail between Boston and I-495. Each day of Phase 2 delay postpones completion of this important section.

In signing this petition, you will join others in providing formal public input to the Boston Region MPO decision on funding for Phase 1 and urge Town of Belmont leaders to complete Phase 1 readiness and accelerate design of Phase 2. Please sign and circulate to others in order to accelerate completion of the Belmont Community Path.

Save Shakerag 2025

The proposed rezoning of Embry Farms with 1/4-acre lots threatens to urbanize Johns Creek's last rural area - a region rich in Cherokee heritage and designated for preservation in the 2018 Comprehensive Plan.

If approved as submitted, this proposal may harm all stakeholders:
- The City risks infrastructure strain and diminished public trust
- The Applicant risks a failed sales strategy due to impractical pricing and congestion
- The Community risks decreased property values, increased traffic, and erosion of Shakerag's rural identity

The Embry Farms site has significant topographical challenges that limit responsible development:
- Minimal road frontage
- Steep slopes and large floodplains
- Over 73% of the land lies within the protected Chattahoochee River Corridor
- For decades, the Embry family used this parcel as a private farm because of these environmental constraints. Any future development must respect these limitations.

We believe that:
- The 2018 Comprehensive Plan clearly reduced allowable density in Shakerag to 1 unit per net acre or less
- CUP zoning is being improperly used to bypass AG-1 1-acre minimum standards
- The 2019 Ashton Woods denial should serve as binding precedent
- Critical zoning provisions are being misinterpreted as merely "best practices" rather than enforceable requirements

We respectfully ask the City Council to:
- Follow the Planning Commission's recommendation to reject the proposal
- Review legal standards from the Georgia Planning Act, 2018 Comprehensive Plan, and Zoning Ordinance
- Consider the 2019 Ashton Woods denial as binding precedent
- Recognize the risk of setting a precedent that could erode the entire Shakerag Character Area

This is not anti-development. We support responsible growth that respects our community's character and environmental constraints.

STOP Town of Chester's Proposed Noise Ordinance

We need your help! PLEASE HELP US STOP THE PROPOSED NOISE ORDINANCE! The Town of Chester, NY is trying to pass a new noise ordinance that will stop outdoor live music in the Town of Chester except for at events run by the town. Now is the time to act BEFORE it is voted into code.

What are they proposing?
Residential Zones should be under 65 decibels from 7am to 7pm.
Commerical Zones would be under 75 decibels from 7am to 7pm.
A pop-up toaster is 80 decibels. The average washing machine is 50-75 decibels. A kitchen blender is 80-90 decibels.

THIS WILL END ALL OUTDOOR LIVE MUSIC IN CHESTER, NY. No band is capable of playing lower than 75 decibels. It would also end all noise by 7pm allowing no evening music or outdoor noise at your home.

Not only will this affect those who love outdoor live music, but it will affect all residents and businesses in Chester. The businesses and their ability to support local jobs will be diminished. No Live Music. Less Support of Local Business. Less Local Jobs. The proposed ordinance is NOT in the best interest of the Town of Chester and its residents.

Please ACT NOW! Sign this petition! Send individual letters to the Town of Chester! And please, please attend the PUBLIC HEARING MEETING on July 24th at 7pm in Support! Thank you!

Over-Saturation of Pot Shops in Costa Mesa

The steadily increasing number of pot shops popping up all over our city is a serious concern.

It's time to take a stand and make sure our city doesn't get overrun with these shops. Let's focus on the well-being and quality of our community and do something about it. We need to make our voices heard and tell city officials that we want a more balanced and controlled approach to the retail cannabis scene.

So, let's join forces and address this issue together. Remember, it's our city, and we can shape its future for the better!

Costa Mesa State Streets and One Metro West

Have you heard about One Metro West, the SEVEN-story, 1050-unit apartment
complex development project located by Costa Mesa's state streets? This is your
chance to make a difference and voice your opinion! In June of 2022, the City Council approved One Metro West without putting it to a vote by the residents. However, with Measure K now in place, the project must be re-approved by the Council without the need for a resident vote. Measure K took away our right to vote on this matter.

This petition provides you with an opportunity to express your concerns if you believe that the project's density, traffic impact, safety issues, and potential strain on the city budget make it unsuitable for your neighborhood. Additionally, if the City Council proceeds with the project, we are urging that the $6 MILLION in development fees be allocated towards improving parks, streets, and neighborhoods most affected by this development.

More democratic debate needed on Ireland's current open borders policy

Do you agree that more democratic debate, discussion and public consultation is needed regarding the Irish State's current open borders policy?

The petition has been organised by HOME (Holistic Outlook on the Migration Emergency). We are a grassroots, non-partisan group of concerned Mayo locals, who are seeking alternative, workable solutions to the migration crisis.

The Sports Centre at the Breaffy complex is to be turned into permanent accommodation for International Protection Applicants and yet the public have not been made aware of this development which has permanent implications for the people of Breaffy, Castlebar and Mayo.

County councillors claim they have been kept in the dark and that they’ve no power to stop plans by the county management (Tom Gilligan & Kevin Kelly), who are acting on behalf of The Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth, rather then acting in the best interests of Mayo residents.

Support Emu Swamp Dam

Whilst water is crucial to the survival of the Granite Belt horticultural industry, it is imperative that the general supply is bolstered for the sake and survival of our community, its citizens, businesses and associated livelihoods. It is for this reason that the Granite Belt Growers Association is a proud and vehement supporter of the Granite Belt Irrigation Project due to the absolute need for additional water to survive and thrive, both now and into the future.

In the midst of drought, many of us were heard saying that “we are one day closer to rain.” Now the pain of the 2019/2020 drought has eased for some, and we are focused on the fact that “we are one day closer to the next drought.”

Without added water security, the Granite Belt cannot grow and progress. Without Emu Swamp Dam, the government will be putting the rubber stamp on our limit of production over the next 100 years. When the next drought comes, it will wipe out another $100 million dollars worth of production.

PREVENT URBAN FLOODING IN KARACHI

PROBLEMS:
Urban flooding occurs every year during the monsoon season. Water getting into homes and destroying property is a concern in both affluent and impoverished areas. Some of the main issues caused by urban flooding are:

•	Sewerage water enters homes and mixes with water tanks.
•	Using polluted water causes various health problems.
•	Electrocution cases rise because of flooded roads.
•	Drowning cases rise due to flooding.
•	Power outage which lasts for many days.
•	Flooded roads limit access to hospitals.

Despite the metropolitan office’s weather predictions and tall claims by authorities, each monsoon brings with it the same level of unpreparedness. The Sindh government and KMC take no visible action. Organizations such as DHA, CBC, KDA, and KWSB are equally incompetent.

Permit Backyard Chickens in Parma NY

Given the current state of affairs, access to affordable and healthy food is becoming a national issue encroaching on our local community. With supply chain disruptions and price gouging, egg prices have nearly tripled for many commercial food suppliers. A simple method of protecting one’s own access to fresh food is by allowing one to grow and harvest his or her own food. We feel that now is an appropriate time for the Town of Parma to revisit its stance on allowing members of the community to own a small, well maintained flock of backyard chickens.
