NATURAL JUSTICE for Labour Party Complaints Procedure

Over the past year The Labour Party has excluded thousands of members. The way they have done this is to use a mechanism that instantly Suspends or Expels members an `Administrative Suspension`.

Such instant suspensions were enabled to be used in exceptional circumstances where it was considered that a member has behaved in an extreme manner against membership rules.

In the past this has resulted in maybe a dozen people each year being automatically, instantly suspended using this mechanism. In the past year it has been used for EVERY SINGLE SITUATION where a complaint has been made. The system has been abused and has no respect for Due Process and Natural Justice.

Now the Labour Party have sent letters to many of those suspended saying the suspension is lifted BUT extraordinarily they ASSUME GUILT and without any right of a hearing they warn the person not to do it again, and that this warning is left on file! We have seen many situations where the alleged evidence used to make these decisions have not been properly attributed, and have the member has not been given a chance to question the evidence. Every person we have heard from who has received this is refusing to accept the Warning and is now demanding Due Process and the right to a Hearing.

Again we are astonished at the lack of deference to Natural Justice and the lack of care to members profoundly affected by this. If you would like to see a cross section of such cases then visit here:

S.O.S (Save Orchard Services)

S.O.S is committed to saving the Orchard day centre which provides vital, appropriate stimulating and person centred activities for individuals with dementia and much needed respite for their families. WE NOW NEED RUNNYMEDE COUNCIL TO AGREE TO LEASE US THE BUILDING.

The families of the clients who attend the The Orchard; are very upset about the proposed closure of the centre (and subsequent merger with the Byfleet Centre) by the Alzheimers Society. The merger will pose a number of problems for families and clients alike, these include (but not limited to):

•	The availability of spaces. With the closure of the Woking, Dorking, Cranleigh, and Chertsey centres; demand will out-strip supply. With the merger of these services there clearly will not be enough spaces to cater for all existing clients;

•	There are question marks about the suitability of the building in Byfleet (i.e. one large room, with no 'breakout' areas for quiet activities for those who become distressed in large groups;

•	Disruption caused to vulnerable clients which may lead to challenging behavior and some families having no alternative but to place loved ones in residential care.

As the number of dementia sufferers is set to rise to 1 million by 2025 and double every 20 years, we need to keep these vital services running.

Retrospective Action Against Simulation in Football

Over the last few years, we have seen an increasing number of incidents of simulation within football. As per the BBC, “last season [2012-13], 34 yellow cards were shown for simulation in the Premier League, up 14 on the previous season’s total and the highest recorded over the previous four years.” With the recent introduction of retrospective action for acts of violent conduct that have gone unseen by the referee, why are we not able to introduce similar such action against simulation?

This is a solution that is supported by both supporters and people in the game; none other than David Moyes, who said “I have said for many years that we should have retrospective video action against diving,” Moyes said. “That would help referees no end. My views haven’t changed from when I was at Everton to when I was at Manchester United.”

We believe that with enough support, we can bring this issue to the attention of the Football Association of England with the aim of hopefully removing simulation from the game of football.

Place an Age Restriction on shisha bars/cafes

Shisha Bars in England should be tightened up with new rules and regulations. As smoking in the Uk has an age limit, the Shisha cafes should also have this age restriction put on them. There is no need for any child to be in a Shisha cafe.

It's been proved in endless raid that children hang around in these cafes and once raided are taken home and parents told. Some of these place have been reported for sexual exploitation of minors.

Our children deserve protecting, If an age limit was put on these places it would give the police and legal system grounds to close them far easier than they have now.

Improve lipreading classes for people with hearing loss

Lipreading is a vital communication skill for people who are deaf or hard of hearing. It helps to build confidence and independence, avoid social isolation and keep people in employment. Lipreading is a useful coping mechanism for the full spectrum of hearing loss and can be used to supplement hearing aids to maximise communication skills.

The best way to learn to lipread is through regular classes by a qualified tutor. However an RNID report found that in England there are too few classes and many people with a hearing loss are unable to attend. Many classes have closed and many more are threatened with closure. This is because the vital skill of lipreading is classified as a ‘leisure’ activity meaning that little central funding is available to run the classes and learners are expected to pay high fees.

RNID, the charity taking action on hearing loss, is calling on the Government to reclassify lipreading as an ‘essential’ skill so more people can attend a class that is available at little to no cost to them.

Please sign our petition to show your support for people with a hearing loss to have access to learn this vital skill or their communication and encourage others to do so.
