“In a democracy, I don’t think it’s right for private companies to censor politicians, or the news,” Marc Zuckerberg stated, missing the point entirely, and dodging the issue of FaceBook being used as a tool to spread disinformation in the United States (and elsewhere) about individuals, companies, political parties, and protected groups.

Censorship is not the issue, although FaceBook has agreed to censor content in many regions, including Pakistan, India, and Turkey. The issue is whether FaceBook will continue to allow political ads to LIE about opposing candidates, parties, or groups, in a manner which is demonstrably false.

FaceBook claims "Vetting such claims takes time and effort, and might not be possible at all." Zuckerberg adds, “in a democracy people should be able to see for themselves what politicians are saying.” But if those ads are NOT fact-checked, or accompanied by a disclaimer pointing out the variance from truth, all FaceBook is doing is magnifying and enabling the spreading of the lie.

FaceBook doesn't need to be the arbiter of disputes, only needs to set minimum standards, convey the expectations to those creating advertising content, and establish a set of acceptable proofs that sufficient content in the ad is untrue, to merit action by FaceBook. That action may include: Removal of the ad until the false content is removed or revised, and ad is resubmitted for approval, or FaceBook may Attach to the ad an obvious and clear disclaimer, pointing out the false content.

2008年，因應減薪，壹傳媒工會成立；這些年來，工會呼籲同事捍衛新聞自由、聲援被捕攝記、關心上庭手足，喊口號舉橫額、做雨傘撐佔領，大小社會事務，都有壹同事的身影；同一時間，我們卻忍痛看著同事一個接一個捧紙箱收行裝，無情被裁。到這一次，我們要為自己發聲，要離開工作崗位15分鐘抗議，在壹蘋果大樓外默站，向外判方案和無情裁員表達強烈憤怒。

看似平靜時，工會仝人吃盤菜、切乳豬、抽機票，但我們清楚知道團聚的歡樂非常短暫，頸上的屠宰之刀其實從未離去，工會維護同事權益刻不容緩。現實卻是集團裁員連年，部門的空凳一張添一張，Canteen人潮買少見少，到我們終於習慣了這種朝不保夕的裁員日子，新一招又來了　──　把員工外判出去。

如果我們是手足，外判行動就是斬去手腳，人心潰散、士氣低落，我們不禁問，這種狀態下，集團可以怎樣前行？今天先宰美術部，明天可以是任何人，唇亡齒寒，由壹集團、以致整個行業，都將發生巨變。

工會連日來就外判計劃與管理層周旋，集團不單一意孤行，更同時開展零星裁員，兩名由創刊服務至今的《蘋果日報》財經組同事，昨日突然被通知其負責的版面被取消，二人即時被遣散，而且不獲任何額外補償，22年的僱傭關係一夜抹殺，工會對此感極度憤怒。

僅離席15分鐘，有用嗎？可以改變甚麼嗎？這是記者掙扎求存的年代，這是傳媒走向零散化的開始，如果這也是壹傳媒做為良好僱主的句點，在這座大樓上班的每一個人，絕對有資格表態、發聲，在歷史這一筆留下足跡。因為默然無聲不是我們的Style，一如2014年佔領期間我們勇抗大媽，在傳媒腐朽變質的洪流底下，讓我們在同一地點再一次奮力抵擋。

壹工會史無前例地，發動同事為自己的權益發聲，會有風險嗎？是的，每一步、每個行動都會有風險，以為如常工作執行指令就沒有風險嗎？被裁的員工曾經犯錯過甚麼嗎？難道我們該坐以待斃，繼續每天等候發落嗎？

On March 9th, 2017 my Facebook profile was permanently shut down, because I had posted "Pornographic content". You told me I could object and explain by email what and why I had posted what I posted. I told you then, and I will tell you again (since you obviously did not read what I wrote, maybe I should use easier terms);

In December of 2014 I found out I am a carrier of the cancer causing gene BRCA1. This means I have a REALLY high risk of developing breast cancer and ovarian cancer. You can not understand what this is like, unless you are in the same position. This is why there are different PRIVATE groups on Facebook for woman like me. We are not just members of a group, we are a what we call a "Sisterhood". We help each other, lift each other up AND share pictures of ourselves during our process. Needless to say these pictures are of wounds, scars and many more medical shit, but also of our new nipples and tattoos.
These tattoos are not just for fun, they are the last step in a long process that is marked by pain, fear, hospitals and many many tears. A process in which your body stops being yours for too long.

When I got my new nipples on March 9, 2017 I cried happy tears. I could NOT wait to share pictures with my sisters. Many sisters who have already been there, and many sister for whom this is yet to come. To whom this is an image of hope.
Yet, as soon as I posted a picture in two of these PRIVATE groups, in the comment section of the original post, I was BLOCKED. And not just a 24 hour block, but permanently.

You can say "oh it's just facebook, make a new profile and you're back." Well yes, obviously. But that is not the point. You did not just shut down my private page. You shut down three business pages that had close to 1500 followers, you shut down my "friendship" with my sister, who passed away of ovarian cancer. You shut down every single message we ever sent to each other, every picture we shared and every moment we shared on our profiles. And most importantly, you shut down my birth given right to speak. You have censored me.

What stings most of all is the fact that according to yourself I "violated the guidelines of the Facebook community." The same guidelines that state you have to be thirteen years old to sign up. Do you know what happens when you are thirteen? You move from child to teenager. As a girl, you develop breasts, get your period and get wider hips. You are insecure about your body because it is changing so much. Yet this is the minimum age you are allowed into a online community that states that everything about the female body is absolutely disgusting. ESPECIALLY breasts. YUCK. But a movie that shows how a transgender woman is brutally beaten to death is just fine.

Yet if you search the internet, one of the first articles I found said as follows:

“We remove photographs of people displaying genitals or focusing in on fully exposed buttocks,” the new policy reads. “We also restrict some images of female breasts if they include the nipple, but we always allow photos of women actively engaged in breastfeeding or showing breasts with post-mastectomy scarring.”

I don't know what is happening here, but you need to either review your guidelines, or consequently do what you say. Change your narrow minded ideas of sexuality. BREASTS ARE NOT PER DEFINITION SEXUAL.

Freedom of speech means expressing what people don’t want to hear. Especially what politicians refuse to accept.

“Romania liberă” (Free Romania) – the country's oldest newspaper – fights for this fundamental liberty in every article since 1877. Today, Romanian state institutions that cover entrenched political interests seek to take over or silence the voice of an iconic newspaper.

We chose these papers to not only educate ourselves on world and national news, but the news of our neighbors, local businesses, schools and athletes.

We do not appreciate the way Gannett has transformed the award winning paper into a cheap looking rag. It has not gone unnoticed that in order to cut costs, the paper is smaller, the type is smaller to fit more content, yet the white space and photos are also larger to avoid added content. And much of the content has been replaced by ads.

We miss our local reporters who have been replaced by national reporters who are on the Gannett payroll.

And ironically, these cost cutting measures have alienated your subscribers and have caused us no choice but to cancel our subscriptions.

Malcolm Turnbull stated that community TV’s “best outcome” would be to move the entirety of the service to the internet. We are thoroughly disappointed with this move.

Community television and C31 serves so many Australians; including people with disability to Indigenous broadcasters, programmes for youth, ethic communities etc. It has been a platform for many professionals.

Whilst media consumption is rapidly changing, traditional TV still serves as the primary form by which audiences watch long form video content, with online services acting as a complement to Broadcast TV. As highlighted by the Australian Multi-Screen Report 2014; currently, the average viewer consumes 24 hours per week of Broadcast TV, whereas viewings on PC or mobile or tablet devices amounted to a little over two hours. This suggests that internet viewings are still a supplement to traditional TV, which draws the bulk of viewership.

Additionally, the free-of-charge accessibility of Community TV will be altered if the content will only be receivable online. As the internet is not free-to-access, this may restrict the ability for services to communities who may lack the technical capacities or data required to access long form video content online. Hence, the responsibility of community broadcasters to provide free-of-charge content via widely available equipment under the Broadcasting Services Act will be compromised. The move will end the ch31 TV as we know it.

During the news report the reporter and camera crossed to footage of a white squashed vehicle that contained a deceased person. The reporter claimed there could be more than one deceased person in the vehicle.

Unfortunately in the interest of public information the media believe it's fine to show these images, often even before family and friends are informed of the deceased passing.

From the images shown tonight it may have been possible for family members to identify the vehicle before they were formally informed, I'm calling on members of the public to sign this petition to request the Australian Media and Communication Authority tighten regulations around the display of graphic images involving deceased people within 24 hours of an accident.
