A foreign investor from Canada is in the process of buying 70 acres of Land Parcel 0025B 4. Most of this beachfront parcel is located within The Pitons World Heritage Site in a No-Development Zone as agreed to by the Government of Saint Lucia (GOSL) in the original Hyder Report and the more recent Limits of Acceptable Change (LAC) report.

The buyer stated to us that he is buying the land as "a private beach for my wife..." Adding "I can get the Queen's Chain lease [Land Parcel 0025B 5]. It's cheap!"

The buyer, also, stated "I have a letter from the PM saying I can build in the World Heritage Site..." Adding "Oh, you know, a guest house for family, friends..."

The Buyer said he is buying the land on the condition that "all encumbrances" (local users: farmers, fishermen, tourists) are removed and asked us what is the best way to get rid of the locals on the beach...

Trouya Beach and Cove is one of the last beaches in the North of the
island that is accessible to locals to "lime", play music and cookout.

The proposed hotel development will stop this. It will build on the "Queens Chain" up to the beach, putting a 52 room structure in place of the current natural environment.

The Developer is leveraging his ownership of a mere 30,000sq ft approx of private land adjoining the "Queens Chain" to apply for the lease on 130,000sq ft.

Trouya land is currently zoned for public use and residential and should stay that way.

The combination of these two types of vehicle racing, would make St. Lucia one of the leaders in motor sports within the English speaking Caribbean.

The event was an unparalleled success and and this could be the beginning of St. Lucia becoming the hub for drag racing events in the Caribbean due to our facilities and central location.

Without another event held early in the year, interest will wane and the likelihood of another event of this magnitude being hosted will be slim.
