Zero plastic bags; Only reusable bags

The accumulative greenhouse gas emissions from cradle to grave of plastics can exceed 56 gigatons by 2050 and account for 10-13% of the total remaining carbon budget. This seriously threatens the ability of the global community to keep temperature rises below 1.5-2 degrees C by 2100, which is crucial to prevent irreversible chain reactions, large-scale destruction of ecosystems and devastating natural disasters.
Plastic is also destroying our oceans, the largest natural carbon sink for greenhouse gases, absorbing 30-50% of atmospheric carbon since the industrial era. 8 million tons of discarded plastic enter our oceans each year, choking wildlife and habitats.
Plastic causes alarming feedback loops. Heat causes plastic to release powerful greenhouse gases, contributing to climate change. This then causes the planet to get hotter, breaking plastic down into more methane and ethylene, increasing the rate of climate change which increases the breaking down of plastic, a vicious cycle.

Recognise Changi Village As Singapore's Official Cat Village

Since time immemorial, Changi Village has been the natural home to Singapore's largest population of stray cats. Both locals and tourists are fond of the Changi Village cats and have fascinating stories to tell of their playfulness and affectionate nature.

It is time for the authorities in Singapore to recognise Changi Village as Singapore's official cat village. The recognition would not only help ensure the health and safety of the Changi Village community cats, but would also help boost volunteers' outreach efforts, which include the "Trap, Neuter and Sterilisation" programme, programme to rehabilitate sick and frail community cats, and public education on responsible pet ownership and responsible feeding practices.

Recognising Changi Village as Singapore's official cat village would also help generate tourism revenue through the sale of eco-friendly cat-themed merchandise as well as literature aimed at raising a generation of socially conscious children with a love and respect for Singapore's community animals. A similar model exists in Taiwan - the Houtong cat village.

The administrator of the "Four Paws at Changi Village" Facebook page proposes to collaborate with the relevant authorities on the following areas:

- Education on responsible pet ownership and responsible feeding practices. Currently our volunteers have distributed makeshift signs in Singapore's official languages throughout Changi Village. We recommend that permanent signs be erected to educate on responsible pet ownership (sterilisation, no abandonment, and no breeding) and responsible feeding practices. Four Paws can crowdfund for the cost of the permanent signs. We need the relevant authorities' approval for the erection of the signs in Changi Village

- Training and coaching a new generation of volunteers responsible for feeding the community cats and educating the public. Four Paws can provide the trainers and the relevant authorities can support and provide venue sponsorship

- Administration of a public fund to support the feeding, sterilisation, medical expenses and rehabilitation of community cats. The relevant authorities could administer the fund on Four Paws' behalf and use public donations / revenue from the sale of cat-themed merchandise to fund the expenses. Four Paws could also explore setting up a company to administer the day-to-day accounts

These are a few crucial areas we urgently need support for. Recognising Changi Village as Singapore's official cat village would be a crucial first step in our long term plans for the Changi Village community cats.

We look forward to having a meaningful, mutually respectful dialogue with the relevant authorities on our petition.

We hope you can recognise our multi-racial community effort to build a Singapore that is respectful and loving towards our community cats.

Save our Hawker Culture

The government had initiated a slew of agent run hawker centres which has resulted in rents up to 100% higher. This has resulted in higher food prices, high turnover of stalls closing down due to the inability to service the rents and have scared off the new generation from being enterprenual hawkers and continuing our hawker culture.
We need to pressure the decision makers to step in and remove agency related costs and make hawker centres truly affordable for all.

Mass trees cutting around Handicap Association, along the driveway in front of Blk 98 Whampoa Drive

On 24th Mar 2018, around 8:30am, we were awoken by the loud electronic saw sound. My 3 daughters were shocked to see the healthy trees in front of their room's window were being cut. This happened in Whampoa neighborhood along the driveway in front of Blk 98 Whampoa Drive, surrounding the Handicap association.. We got to know from the workers that they were told to cut the trees mark with "X". We have countered more than 10 trees with mark "X" along that short driveway on that day excluding the ones (2-3 trees) that were already cut. Till date left with 6 trees mark "x".

QUESTIONS??
1) How can all these trees be sick at one go??
2) At what stage is a tree considered too weak to hold itself and is dangerous to the public?
3) Could it be the soil problems? If so, no new trees can be survive and cutting trees is not solving the root cause of the problem. Treat them.

Even there are new plants, no similar trees that can bloom flowers like before and it will take more than 5 years to become mature. Trees are also life, like my daughter said, why not treat the trees? Can we find the cause? If human are sick, we are being treated, why not the trees? It's already very hot in Singapore. Worst part is that this activity destroyed the natural habitat of the birds and squirrels. No more nice unique yellow birds chirping early in the morning.. I personally saw a squirrel running around the premises unable to find their usually home.
How long can we protect the trees here, the nature here and the global warming?

Request for #MX_2ndWorldTour IN SINGAPORE

Although Singapore is a small country, the Hallyu Wave in Singapore has always been prominent.
On 3rd March 2018, MONSTA X came to Singapore for a Special Show and many fans were unable to attend due to conflict in schedules and inconvenience*.
- Special Show was held in The Coliseum, a venue for Standing concerts (usually for Rock Festivals)
- *Inconvenience mentioned refers to: There were fans (MONSTA X fans are named Monbebes) who were unable to attend due to restraints such as having physical injuries that stops them from attending a standing concert, or suffering from Anxiety that prevents them to be in overly crowded areas, or even fans who are wheelchair-bound and more.

Aside from the Special Show, the only opportunity for SG Monbebes to meet MONSTA X was 3 years ago in a joint fan-meeting session. SG Monbebes hopes to properly meet MONSTA X who has been amazing role models through the upcoming 2nd World Tour in an enjoyable, all-inclusive environment.

Prevent Demolition of Iconic Parkour Spot: Save Bedok Maze

Bedok Maze is an iconic spot known internationally in the Parkour community. The spot consists of many brick walls with a variety of heights, spread over the wide area. It is also conveniently located at a place where Parkour practitioners can train without obstructing the path of pedestrians. This design and set-up makes it a perfect place to train Parkour, for both beginner or advanced practitioners alike.

As such, many international practitioners have made their way down to Singapore simply to visit this area, even rushing down from the airport during stopovers. In a recently published book called "The Parkour Roadmap", Bedok Maze is even featured as one of the more iconic spots for Parkour.

Most importantly, this spot is where communities come together. In the mornings the elderly walk through for some early exercise. The midday sees teenage parkour practitioners getting active and sharing their love of movement together, and in the late afternoon, the children come to play. The demolition of Bedok Maze will be grieved by many.

What is Parkour?
Parkour is a training discipline using movements to get from one point to another, through a complex environment, in the most efficient manner possible. Movements include jumping, vaulting, climbing and rolling.
Parkour in Singapore (and the world) is still young and undergoing development.

Currently, we are doing our best to educate and be known as a sport that encourages community, altruism, resilience, wellness, and expression; contrary to the negative perceptions that people may have of Parkour, such as recklessness, trespassing and vandalism. Some of Parkour's core values are 'To be, and to last', 'Be strong to be useful', 'Leave no trace', and 'Start together, finish together', The benefits of Parkour are numerous, such as the improvement in mental and physical wellbeing, building character, as well as providing a healthy outlet for creativity and energy. Also, it is an activity which is suitable for all ages, gender, class and race - which promotes social inclusion.

Parkour is getting recognised by government bodies, with UK officially recognising it as a sport and Denmark having built over a hundred parkour parks across its cities. Recently, the Parkour Singapore association has also been established in Singapore to improve the scene. We have been complying with the strict legislation in Singapore, even organising an event in partnership with certain government organisations, as well as volunteering performers for the National Day Parade 2017.

The news of the demolition plans is of huge shock to us and however slim the chances may be, we are pleading for the town council to review its decision.

Public Safety - Construct Dedicated Cycling Lane Along Admiralty Road, Singapore

On 19/06/2017 around 0610hrs, I was going back home from the Mosque and I had witnessed a Bangladeshi worker whom was cycling and had hit onto a male Malay elderly which I often see him at the Mosque. The Bangladeshi's left bicycle handle had hit on to the right elbow of the male Malay elderly and he screamed out in pain. The Bangladeshi worker even said to the male Malay elderly that "I only hit you a bit" in Malay. As the male Malay elderly is fasting, he does not wish to talk nor argue with the Bangladeshi worker and left followed by the Bangladeshi worker whom cycle off eventually. I wish to state that there is 2 OFO Bikes parking on the pavement and also one huge green movable trash bin belonging to the Marsiling Community Centre is causing the path to be narrow and it could cause safety hazards to the members of public. I am making this report to inform the Mosque, Marsiling Community Centre and Municipal Council.
