Bus Us To The Club (District Provided After School Transportation To The Boys and Girls Club)

Hello I have come into a situation recently that isn’t just recent but continuous! Each year my 2 high school boys have attended after school care to the Boys and Girls Club Richmond! We would always get guided to filling out a form (the alternate transportation) to get things processing! Each year we wind up having to go through the same back and forth of “the district doesn’t utilize this for the older group, or did you fill out a form” Yes I did everything that was told! It usually takes numerous back and forth efforts until they end up getting it in place! Now they are trying to eliminate that as an option!

University of Arkansas Sexual Assault Justice Demands

***UPDATE*** TW: SEXUAL ASSAULT

The Chancellor has agreed to meet ALL FIVE demands. The work doesn't stop here. Continue to apply pressure. More information on the situation here:
https://www.chronicle.com/article/tensions-over-campus-sexual-assault-roil-u-of-arkansas

Yet again, the University of Arkansas has failed survivors of sexual assault and harassment. Instead of going to court, the University chose to pay a man their own Title IX office found guilty of assault $20,000--an amount larger than most of the scholarships provided by the institution. This decision was made without consulting or notifying the survivor.

On March 31, 2021, Chancellor Joe Steinmetz signed a proclamation stating: “it is important that everyone shares a strong conviction that sexual violence is unacceptable and is contrary to our values as members of the University of Arkansas community and larger public.” Just 12 days later, Chancellor Steinmetz signed the $20,000 settlement. The statement also called upon campus community members to “speak out against sexual violence and support efforts within Arkansas to assist people who are survivors.” We are speaking out.

The University of Arkansas's message is clear: Money is more important than students. Administration has a responsibility to act, and they must do so quickly.

DEFEND KUCR

Students established KUCR in 1965, through grassroots organizing, and the support of campus administration and Chancellor Hinderaker. Without warning or discussion, UCR administration is proposing to take away KUCR’s dedicated parking lot and turn the lawn between our two historic buildings into a paved road. The station's future has been in limbo since 2016 with the campus administration in regards to whether our space on campus will be either torn down, relocated, or rebuilt with little to no input from the station itself. KUCR is an invaluable non-commercial media outlet, that provides a critical service to Inland Southern California region.

An nou di non ak lajan sesyon an yo monte a!

Gade konbyen kòb Université Quisqueya ap touche par an sou plis pase 3000 etidyan nan yon peyi tankou ayiti.
Problème nan pa la.

1- èske kòb yo mande à pou chak étidyan nan yon fakilte bay vo kalite ledikasyon nap resevwa nan men yo an?
R- ça dépend. Si gen bon Jan bibliothèque pou etidyan yo jwenn liv pou yo fè rechèch, mdakò.
Si tout pwofesè yo kalifye pou travail yo, mdakò
Si chak sesyon etidyan yo te jwenn oh mwen 10 kou, mdakò
Si te gen staj ase pou etidyan yo, mdakò
Si gen bon jan manje nan kafetery yo pou nou en tant ke etidyan, mdakò
Si gen yon siveyans total ki fèt sou timoun yo pou yo degaje yo pase, mdakò.

Men si pa gen yonn nan bagay sa yo msot di li ki pa egziste nan ansent inivèsite an, mpanse li ta enpòtan pou nou pa aksepte sa kap fèt la.

No a/c, no learning

When kids are placed in rooms with no a/c in the Florida heat, they can't learn. It places their focus on things that they should not be focused on, and creates conditions that are impossible to learn in. When we are in portables or classrooms with no a/c we are only focused on one thing: getting out of the heat and into the cool of our next class. As a Harvard study said, "The data showed that students were more likely to have lower scores in years with higher temperatures and better results in cooler years." This is proof that kids can not focus and perform to their best ability in these harsh environments. There is no point of even going to class in these conditions, and that's why we believe that students shouldn't be forced to struggle and face these conditions, but that they should be able to go an air conditioned classroom to do their learning.

Support the WSO Drama Trip 2019

Every year our school creates trips that not only benefit us in targeted subjects but also allow us to develop ourselves as people. WSO is well known for our fantastic performing arts department and I strongly believe that not providing the students with an international trip that has a drama focus is extremely unprincipled.
Firstly, the reason why the drama trip was rejected was due to the fact that the workshops Ista provides are not conducted during our school holidays, however, it seems to me that the school easily disregarded this amazing opportunity without considering all the positive benefits that this trip entitles.
Not only will this trip allow for students to learn more about a subject which they are passionate about but it will also give room for them to develop important life skills that will be needed regardless of what year they are in or future subjects they are studying. Emma Boyle, year 10 student, said that "During the drama trip last year, I was able to develop IB skills due to the workshops I took part in. I not only developed my creativity skills but I also learnt a lot about problem solving and collaboration"
Furthermore, the students can experience a completely different culture from their own which will expand their horizons and ultimately make them better people. This trip will benefit not only the students' skills in drama but it will also allow them to develop important life skills they will need.

Cancel 12th and 10th board retests

The (CBSE) board exam students will have to take Class 10 mathematics and Class 12 economics exams again, as the board has decided to reconduct these tests after reports of paper leak, said CBSE board on Wednesday.
According to Times Of India,
The HRD minister assured that "a strong mechanism will be put in place to prevent such incidents from taking place in the future".
Here's the link:
https://m.timesofindia.com/india/cbse-paper-leak-pm-modi-speaks-to-hrd-minister-demands-strict-action/articleshow/63516422.cms
I question, "why it wasn't put earlier, that strong fullproof mechanism"?
There were rumours about leaking of accountancy papers too, why didn't they took any actions regarding that?
Its not our fault that papers are getting leaked, its the fault of the CBSE board members and the culprits involved. Even after such a strong security arrangement, papers are getting leaked. Why the rest of us should suffer for someone else's irresponsiblity. What about our hardwork that we did for the economics examination that held on 26th March, 2018.
Moreover, economics examination went well for more than 70% students.
And now, after all our hard work and a well went examination, we have to Appear for a retest.

Renaming Nokaneng Stadium to Lesedi Benjamin Petla Stadium

BACKGROUND
Lesedi Benjamin Petla was a young man from the rural villages of Pankop, Nkanagal Region, Mpumalanga Province.

He was hit by a car during the national #FeesMustFallProtest, he was leading from the front as the SRC Leader. He was not a student of TUT but a student activist within TUT campus, he was a black conscious individual and a selfless leader of note. He died with his boots on demanding free quality education for all students.

He was not petty nor delusional, all that he wanted was you and me to have access to education at the tertiary level.

He represented students during meetings, but he was seen monitoring queues of students applying for registration year in year out. He had the best interest of the marginalized and down trodden at heart.

He genuinely believed in the war for free quality education.

In his memory. We, the immediate beneficiaries in waiting of his idea must request the Office of the MEC of Culture, Sport & Recreation, Ms Norah Mahlanug to initiate a process that will ultimately lead to the renaming of Nokaneng Stadium to Lesedi Benjamin Petla Stadium.

In his contribution to the war for free quality education, TUT University management has resolved that from next year one of the bursaries will be issued to an academically deserving student in the studies of Information and Communications Technology (ICT). It will be known as the Lesedi Benjamin Phehla scholarship fund..

Phehla displayed leadership qualities that would have made him a great leader of the country in the near future. The next generation must know what Lesedi Benjamin Petla stood for.

May his soul rest in revolutionary perfect peace.

Implement Effective Policies to Control The Violence Among Students

In light of the events that have happened in our school the past week, we the parents' of students at Foothill High School are demanding that the policies regarding violence, harassment and bullying be reformed. Students who have engaged in fights ONLY in order to defend themselves have been suspended from school and the repercussions for the students instigating violence are not serious enough as fights continue to happen at our school. We love our school and are grateful for all of the educational opportunities and extracurricular activities that our school has to offer but We want our students to have a safe environment where they will not be distracted by fearing for their own safety. We are calling for an overhaul of Foothill High School policies in regards to the consequences from bullying, harassment and violence amongst students. We are also asking that consequences should not be placed on students who have defended themselves from an assault. Students who have defended themselves from an assault should not have to be suspended from school. We want an Absolute Zero Tolerance Policy for violence, Students who assault other students need to be expelled from school with no exception. The few percentage of students who cannot follow this policy should not ruin the positive school experience that all of our students deserve. Enough Is Enough!!! How many kids have to be harmed physically and mentally until something is done!
