There has not been an extreme decline in viewers, and they are due for a 22 episode season. The show was nominated and won awards. The fan base is strong and very supportive of the show and cast members. The extreme gap in the return date for the next season caused a decrease in viewers, then the numbers pick back up again. Television series generally increase after the show runs for 1 or 2 episodes then the number of episodes are increased.

Its gripping and compelling plot, intense screenwriting and phenomenal performances drew consistently high ratings, rave reviews and countless loyal fans.

Upon announcement of the release date of the show's third season in April this year, it was also announced that the third season would also be the final season, which came as a huge and unexpected disappointment for fans of the show.

Although the exact reason for the cancellation isn't entirely clear, it seems that a large part of the decision was likely due to Jennifer Lopez's busy schedule. The show has so many other aspects that make it unique and many other avenues that could be explored, even in the absence of Jennifer Lopez or her character, Harlee. Many fans, like myself, are fans of other actors that star in the show, such as Drea De Matteo and Ray Liotta and we are gutted to see it end so unexpectedly and after such as short run.

Shows of this calibre don't come around often and we would love to see it continue for a run that it deserves, with another lead actress if necessary, such as Drea De Matteo, playing the lead female on the show.

It follows nurse Sarah Adams who returns Down Under after 20 years in Europe and falls for a rich widower — only to find herself battling his hostile mother .The series consists of interwoven plot strands that involve romances complicated by class, religion and sexual orientation; tragic pregnancies; mysterious deaths, anti-Semitism; rape and homophobia.'
The BBC shows this Drama at 3.15 in the afternoon because " the programme was acquired specifically to play in a daytime slot," The topics covered and certain adult scenes have seen the show awarded a 15 certificate, so the BBC has cut and censored the programme in order to show it mid afternoon. The BBC says that "we believe any edits made are minimal and they do not interfere with storylines or detract in any way from the enjoyment of the series", But, when you view the original uncut version on DVD, you see significant changes of meaning in the storyline and continuity and the writers nuances are lost.
The adult themes, storylines, vocabulary etc deserve to be shown in their entirety as is becoming of a 15 rated programme - and this should be at a time when it is not necessary to cut sections out in order to show it when younger audiences will be watching. If the BBC wants dramas to show in the afternoons, then they should make sure they are lower than a 15 rating such as their other afternoon drama selections. The BBC needs to take ownership of this mistake in scheduling and redress it by placing A Place to Call Home in an evening time slot.

Low self-confidence prevents him from pursuing her and when she rides away on the train, Joe becomes convinced that if he creates a successful comic book with her as the superhero, she will find a way back to him, and catapult him to joy.

It is a show that appeals to a broad swath of Americans who find very few shows that extol the virtues with which they can identify; namely values of powerful black women in charge.

Being Mary Jane is not just selling women the ideal of women in power, it shows us the trials and tribulations women go through for simply being in power. The family Dynamic of this show hits so close to home for BET'S targeted audience, there is no way they should consider canceling the show. The charcter Mary Jane (play by beautiful actress Gabriel Union) is not afraid of the skin she is in and owns and takes charge of her sexuality with no apologies.

The acting is superb and the writing is extraordinary. The cast is diverse, conscience of current events and show liberal and conservative views.

I cannot believe BET Executives allowed 50 Cent aka Curtis Jackson the ability to make executive decisions of such magnitude. The intent of this petition/boycott is to attempt to get BET to renew the show Being Mary Jane for a full season. With that in mind, I will no longer be watching any BET shows.

I have cancelled the DVR settings for the other BET shows that I regularly watch and I will no longer run commercials through BET until they renew Being Mary Jane for a full season. If you want to help try to save Being Mary Jane, I encourage you to do the same. Even if you are not willing to boycott the network, but still want to save the show, please sign this petition and share it.
