Lake Nasser is an important staging point for migrant and over-wintering birds. During the autumn and spring months millions of birds pass across the lake following the Nile River on their annual migrations between the continents of Europe, Asia and Africa. Many atrocities are committed by hunters from the Gulf States but the worst offenders are hunters from Malta and Cyprus who literally shoot at anything that moves, protected or not. Witnesses have seen flocks of flamingos being shot down and hunters carrying garbage bags full of dead birds.

A massive decline continues in the crocodile population on the lake due to hunters and local fishermen who hunt croc’s because they can make money from them. Most of the local fishermen, more or less, ignore the crocks and live alongside them peacefully; keeping out of each other’s way. The young crocks are collected by fishermen and sold as live “pets” in Aswan and the rest of Egypt. Adult crocodiles are also targeted using cruel hooks attached by a strong line to a floating plastic jerry can and baited with Nile perch.

The Egyptian laws which make it a crime to sell protected animals must be enforced and this illegal trade must be stopped reducing the possibility of financial reward the fishermen will quickly lose interest in decimating the crocodile population.

'Free Front for Peaceful Change' calls for solidarity demonstration on Monday to demand release of 6 Egyptian activists recently slapped with 5-year jail terms.

Egypt's 'Free Front for Peaceful Change' youth group has called for a Monday demonstration outside a court in New Cairo to voice solidarity with six activists recently slapped with five-year prison sentences.

The activists were sentenced last week following their arrest outside a court in New Cairo where they had been protesting in solidarity with several students arrested for alleged affiliation with Egypt's anti-government 'Black Bloc' movement.

An appeal session for the six convicted activists is scheduled for Monday.

On the same day, and at the same court, prosecutors will also begin investigations into Egyptian activist Ahmed Duma, who faces charges of 'insulting' President Morsi.

Since the beginning of the year, roughly 2,000 people have been arrested during political clashes in Cairo, most of whom have since been released but not formally acquitted, according to Egyptian rights lawyer Ahmed Emam.

Preamble:
On Friday 27th January 2012 after Salafi Muslims spread false rumours in the village of Sharbat near Alexandria that a Christian tailor, Murad Sami Gergis has inappropriate photographs of a Muslim woman on his mobile, the Salafi Muslim mobs from the village of Sharbat and nearby villages attacked and burned down Christian homes and shops in the village, 3 houses, 10 shops belonging to Christians were fully burned and 3 flats looted. The nearby police did not try to intervene to stop the violence against Copts, rather appeared on the scene after the Christians properties and business were burned.

The accused Christian tailor was arrested and his telephone was seized, no inappropriate photographs of a Muslim woman was found. It became later clear that the rumour was spread as a pretext for the attack.

3 reconciliation sessions were sponsored by the local police and the local MPs Esam Hasanin from the Muslim Brothers party and Ahmed Abdelhamid Elsherif from El-Noor Muslim Salafi party to bring a resolution to the matter decided:

First session on 30 January 2012 decided on the expulsion of the accused Christian tailor with his family, 2 brothers and families and the sale of their property and business by the Salafi MP.

Second session on 1st February 2012 decided to expel an old Christian businessman Ishaq Abaschiron Khalil and his 4 sons (married men with families who also got their business and houses burned) as the Salafis claimed one of his sons fired in air as he saw the mob attacking and burning their properties.

A third session sealed the previous decisions to expel the Christian families (As their return would cause sedition)

Forced displacement is a Crime against Humanity, in Egypt this crime is carried out against innocent Christians sponsored by the Islamists and government agencies (MPs).

We call upon the world community, the United Nations and all government to pressurise the Egyptian government to put an end to this crime, stop the forced displacement of the innocent and prosecute the perpetrators of violence against Christians in Egypt.

This petition is intended to be sent to the UN Human Rights Council, The UN independent expert on minority issues and the international Criminal Court.

أوقفوا التهجير القسري للعائلات المسيحية في مصر برعاية الحكومة المصرية

فى يوم الجمعة 27 يناير 2012 نشر بعض السلفيين المسلمين شائعات كاذبة في قرية كوبرى شربات بالقرب من مدينة الإسكندرية أن خياطا مسيحي يدعى مراد سامي جرجس لديه صور فاضحة لامرأة مسلمة على هاتفه المحمول، هاجم الغوغاء السلفية من مسلمى قرية كوبرى شربات والقرى المجاورة منازل ومتاجر المسيحيين في القرية و وأحرقوا 3 منازل وخربوا وسرقوا 3 شقق بخلاف 10 محلات تجارية احرقت بالكامل. الشرطة لم تحاول التدخل لوقف العنف ضد الأقباط.

وكان ألقي القبض على المتهم الخياط المسيحي وضبط هاتفه، لم توجد صورا غير مناسبة لامرأة مسلمة على الهاتف حقيقة اكدها حمدين صباحى عضو مجلس الشعب فى حديث على اليوتيوب. أصبح واضحا في وقت لاحق أنه تم نشر الشائعة كذريعة للهجوم.

جلسات المصالحة العرفية الثلاث تمت تحت رعاية الشرطة واعضاء البرلمان عصام حسنين من حزب الحرية والعدالة وأحمد عبدالحميد الشريف من حزب النور السلفى لايجاد حل لهذه المسألة وقرر:

قررت الدورة الأولى من جلسات المصالحة العرفية في 30 يناير 2012 على طرد الخياط المسيحي المتهم مع عائلته وبيع ممتلكاته ومحلاته ومحلات اخوته الاثنين نبيل ووليد من قبل النائب السلفي.

قررت الدورة الثانية في 1 فبراير 2012 إلى طرد رجل الأعمال المسيحي اسحق ابسخيرون خليل هو واولاده الرجال المتزوجين مع أسرهم وعددهم اربعة أسر لان احد اولاده اطلق رصاصات فى الهواء عندما رأى الغوغاء تهاجم منازلهم وتحرق ورشهم اسفل المنازل.

اكدت الدورة الثالثة على القرارات السابقة لطرد العائلات المسيحية (لأن وجودهم سيسبب الفتنة)

التهجير القسري هي جريمة ضد الإنسانية، وتتم في هذه الجريمة ضد المسيحيين في مصر برعاية الاسلاميين المتشددين بالتعاون مع الاجهزة الحكومية.

نحن ندعو المجتمع الدولي والأمم المتحدة الى ممارسة ضغوط علي الحكومة المصرية لوضع حد لهذه الجريمة، ووقف التهجير القسري للابرياء، ومقاضاة مرتكبي العنف ضد المسيحيين في مصر.

هذا الطلب سيرسل إلى مجلس الأمم المتحدة لحقوق الإنسان، وخبير الأمم المتحدة المستقل المعني بقضايا الأقليات، .

These allegation were confirmed by CNN's Fred Pleitgen recent investigative documentary which was aired at the beginning of November 2011. Fortunately following CNN's broadcast, for some unknown reasons, some these helpless refugees who are mainly from dictatorial horn of African countries like Eritrea, Ethiopia and the Sudan fleeing hunger, human rights abuses, conflicts, and unemployment are/were unable to pay the demands of Bedouin human traffickers in Sinai desert for large amounts of cash to take them into Israel, are now arriving to Israeli-Egyptian border safely - according to UNHCR.

However, it would be a shame if we allow the perpetrators to go away with the horrendous crimes they committed against fellow human-beings to make profit which among others includes forced slavery, rape, torture and above all cutting the bodies of refugees and let them bleed to death in barbaric, undignified and inhumane manner in order to to steal and sell their body organs to greedy and heartless surgeons who put money above precious human lives.

Minutes into the New Year, a terrorist act by detonating explosives at the Two Saints’ Coptic Church in Alexandria, Egypt, while New Years Eve prayers were being conducted killing 27 and injuring 79. The Egyptian government announced that it will bring the perpetrators to justice. Now after more than 7 months there is no charge brought against any one and justice is not in the horizon.

Neither this barbaric act of violence nor the government response is an isolated incident but small part in the cycle of persecution, intimidation and violence targeting many Egyptians that are taking place over the past 30 years. As to Coptic Christians there has been over 400 cases of Christians killed in cold blood over the past 30 years for no reason other than being Christians, their murder gone without prosecution by the Egyptian government justice system which has given green light to Islamic fundamentalists to continue and intensify their persecution and murder.

With the dawn of the Egyptian revolution we Copts felt an end is coming to over 30 years of systemic discriminated and persecutions against any one who is not Muslim Sunni. However events so far proved that the Copts optimism has not yet translated to deeds. The families of the dead and the injured have not seen that justice is done; the government does not seem concerned after the state failure to protect its citizens, an essential part of a state towards its citizen.
