Canada's primary healthcare system is in crisis. According to the Canadian Institute for Health Information (2024), 6.5 million Canadian adults - 22% of the population - lack access to a family doctor or nurse practitioner. If current trends continue, this will worsen to 10 million Canadians by 2032, that’s 1 out of every 3 Canadians without a doctor.

The crisis is intensified by our aging physician workforce:

~ Each retiring family doctor leaves approximately 1,000 patients without care
~ 1.7 million Ontario patients are currently cared for by doctors over 65
~ The federal government projects 48,900 family physician job openings by 2031, but only 29,400 potential physicians to fill them

The impact on Canadians is severe:

~ Only 26% can get same-day or next-day appointments when needed
~ Over 50% of physicians report burnout, spending up to 20 hours weekly on paperwork
~ 40% of emergency room visits could have been managed by primary care providers
~ Young adults, lower-income households, and rural communities are disproportionately affected

Canada ranks lowest among peer nations for primary care access. While over 95% of residents in countries like the UK, Norway, Netherlands, and Finland have guaranteed access to primary care, only 77% of Canadians do.

The UK Gov justifies the bombing campaign of Gaza on account of the Qassam Brigades' attacks of Oct 7th - but Hamas' designation as a terrorist body undermines its status as the democratically elected government of Palestine. Hamas is fighting for equal rights for its people and is obliged, like any government, to defend its people. Even former Labour Leader Tony Blair said in 2017 that “We were wrong to boycott Hamas after its election win.”

We British negotiated with Sinn Fein and that resulted in peace in Northern Ireland, at the same time as we were condemning their military wing, the Provisional IRA. When the IRA bombed Birmingham and Manchester, did our UK Government send the RAF and British Army to level Londonderry? Palestine is no different. And if we exclude a political partner, we cannot hope for peace. The British Government should consider returning to its position before 2021, when only the Qassam Brigades were banned.

The "upgrade" proposes 3 lanes east bound off the Anzac Bridge onto Allen Street as they see this as a bottle neck, this would include the removal of all parking to create the new lane.

Partial increase to the traffic and bottle neck effect here has been from the removal of the right hand turn on to the Westerns Distributor to access the Harbour Bridge and CBD at Fig and Harris Street, this has caused people to have to drive around the block.
This proposed change does not remedy the problem and creates another problem.

But now the UK government is reported to be planning to stop the publication of daily figures on arrivals via this illegal route.

Reported arrivals rose from just under 300 in 2018 to 28,400 in 2021 and are continuing to increase further in 2022.

Censoring data on daily reported arrivals would amount to hiding the truth from the public.

It would make it harder to hold the government to account on behalf of tens of millions of people who are anxious about our uncontrolled borders.

In the midst of the Channel boat scandal, the share of the public who think the government is handling immigration poorly rose by an astounding 38 percentage points since March 2020 and, in mid-January 2022, was at 76% (including over three-quarters of the government’s own voters!) - YouGov.

It’s no wonder Ministers and senior officials are keen to hide the truth on these illegal Channel crossings.

But they must put the brakes on this plan to cover up the daily data.

Hiding it would encourage disinformation and spur an even greater crisis of confidence in the state of the UK's immigration control and border security.

Having one district for the entire neighborhood would maintain much-needed clarity and efficiency for the many residents who call Piedmont Heights home.

We realize Piedmont Heights is a small neighborhood. And yet, Piedmont Heights is one of Atlanta’s oldest neighborhoods, being settled in 1822 – even before Atlanta’s predecessor Terminus in 1837. We wish to remain unified – as a community and via our political districting. Vote to keep the Piedmont Heights neighborhood unified in our political representation. One community, one district!

You can force Lambeth Council to change the way it makes decisions, so that all 63 elected councillors can do the job voters believe they elected them to do.

Lambeth Council currently runs on a 'Cabinet' system where only 11 of the 63 councillors oversee most major decisions in the borough. Added to this, the whip system means non-Cabinet councillors are often forced to vote on party lines. If your opinion differs from Cabinet policy - too bad, your ward councillor can face expulsion if they vote to represent their constituents. This means many of the councillors you elect to represent you on the council have little to no real say.

There's a better way to run the council. If the Council switches from the Cabinet system to a modern Committee system, all 63 councillors will have the power to make and influence decisions in the borough. In a Committee system, councillors work in small committees informed by community priorities. It's a more transparent and democratic system that encourages participation and cross-party collaboration.

Voters can help make this change. Under the Localism Act 2011, if 5% of Lambeth voters, (11,568 people), sign this petition then, by law, a referendum *must* be held on changing the way Lambeth Council runs. All voters should have a voice in the council - let's make it happen!

Other parts of the UK have already woken up to the need for local democratic reform. Sheffield, East Cheshire, Fylde, the Wirral and elsewhere have held, or will soon hold referendums or have unilaterally moved to a ‘committee’ system. Time for Lambeth to follow suit.

• Estes Drive is a major east-west local and regional connector that is presently operating beyond capacity;
• Residents, library users, church goers, commuters, neighbors, students, and teachers depend on Estes Drive mobility;
• These high residential densities contribute to the traffic and the number of cars at a major busy intersection;
