Severe human rights violations: Reports indicate a rise in violations against the Azawadi people, including indiscriminate killings, arbitrary arrests, sexual violence, and excessive use of force against civilians. Reports from Human Rights Watch stated that there is "evidence of mass executions" in the village of Moura in central Mali during March 2022, carried out by Malian forces with the involvement of Russian Wagner forces. The United Nations also confirmed the existence of a "climate of terror and impunity" in areas where Wagner forces operate, with violations including mass killings and torture against civilians, especially in minority areas like that of the Fulani.

Foreign interventions and escalation of violence: For a long time, the people of Azawad have suffered from external interventions, as the Malian transitional government has relied on Russian Wagner forces that have been implicated in a series of serious violations. These interventions have exacerbated the violence, leaving civilians trapped between the ongoing violations of armed groups and security forces supported by Wagner. According to United Nations reports, multiple cases of arbitrary arrests, torture, and sexual violence have been documented in Wagner operational areas.
The urgent need for an international investigation: The absence of justice encourages the continuation of assaults against the Azawadi people and threatens peace and stability in the region. This petition calls on the United Nations to open an urgent and independent international investigation into the crimes committed against the Azawadis to ensure accountability for those responsible. United Nations human rights experts have confirmed that the use of mercenaries such as Wagner forces increases violence and prevents victims from accessing justice.

A call to support the Azawadis: The petition demands that the United Nations and international organizations provide urgent humanitarian aid and protection for civilians, support efforts to find a fair and lasting solution to the conflict, and create mechanisms for accountability for the serious violations faced by the Azawadi people.

The struggle over the Kashmir valley has been one of the most prolonged disputes of the last century. Since the controversial arrival of Indian forces in Kashmir on 27 October 1947, the territory of Jammu and Kashmir (often referred to simply as Kashmir) has been divided by a ceasefire line or Line of Control (LoC) between sides under Pakistani and Indian control, respectively. Since 1947, India and Pakistan have failed to reach a consensus on the territory of Kashmir. Instead, they have fought three wars (1948, 1965, and 1971), and almost had a nuclear showdown in 1999 (known as the Kargil War). There have been two United Nations (UN) mandated ceasefires, in 1949 and 1965 and 58 United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions (Wheeler, 2010: 319-344). Most recently, the world witnessed another stand-off between the two nuclear arch-rivals in a suicide attack in the Pulwana region on 14 February 2019, in which 40 Indian paramilitary police were killed (Herrara, 2019).

As of 2021, Haitian expatriates sent remittances to Haiti totaling $3.9 billion, or on average a quarter of the country's GDP. Only approximately 10% of Haitians are formally employed. Hence, the Haitian diaspora has primarily contributed to Haiti's economy. An estimated 2 million Haitians live abroad, with 1 million in the US alone. Notably, 80% of Haitians with university degrees are expatriates. Haiti has the most significant global brain drain per capita. Voter turnout in the 2016 presidential election was a dismal 18.11%,, with only 9.6% of the votes going to the winner. Unfortunately, the Haitian electoral process is plagued by voter suppression due to political violence and misinformation. The Haitian expatriate community wants to play a pivotal role in deciding what happens in Haiti. To achieve this goal, the Haitian expatriates must participate in elections as part of their civic duty and democratic practice.

This one-ton brass coin (COIN) etched with the above question is the labor of love made possible by thousands of citizens across India, who contributed their household brass vessels to be melted and cast into this giant coin.

The COIN shows the face of Dr. Ambedkar on one side and Lord Buddha on the other. Etched around the COIN is the word ‘untouchability’ in multiple regional languages.

The COIN is planned to be handed over to India’s Parliament for display in the new Parliament House in Delhi.

Appeal from the people who made the COIN possible:

India is a witness to the fact that many persons considered ‘untouchable’ were sacrificed in the foundation of buildings considered important.

We, people from various states, religions, and social groups have come together to make this COIN and donate it to the Indian Parliament through the Honorable President of India, the Honorable Speaker of the Lok Sabha, and the Honorable Chairperson of the Rajya Sabha.

Our wish is that the COIN be placed in the newly constructed Parliament House to remind us of the fact that we have failed in building a nation free of untouchability even after 75 years of independence. The glory and pomp of the new house of Parliament will shine only when untouchability is abolished in reality. This was the dream of Dr. Ambedkar.

We have also donated a one-rupee coin per member of our family as our contribution to strengthen the Parliament, an institution that belongs to each and every citizen of India. It is the duty of the Parliament to ensure the realization of the constitutional values to guide the lives of its citizens: Equality, Liberty and Fraternity.

We plan to travel from Dalit Shakti Kendra, Gujarat on 1st August 2022 to reach Delhi on 7th August 2022 with both the COIN and Honorable Indian Citizen's donations in the form of one-rupee coins. We are expecting one-rupee coins adding up to about Rs. 25,00,000.

Please help us prevail upon the President of India, the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, and the Chairperson of the Rajya Sabha to accept the COIN and the donations from Indian Citizens.
