Youtube August 13th Drama

There’s been a lot of buzz (and backlash) about something related to YouTube's August 13th update, especially in the Roblox and younger creator communities.

What’s Happening on August 13th?
YouTube is introducing a new policy starting August 13, 2025, that seems to focus on:

1. AI-generated content labeling
- Creators will now have to label videos if they include realistic AI-generated content.
- This includes deepfakes, AI voices, or anything that could mislead viewers.
- If they don’t, YouTube might add the label themselves. or take down the video.

2. ID verification for creators
- Some people are saying YouTube is requiring ID verification for certain content creators, especially:
- Those using AI tools in their videos.
- Or those using realistic-looking avatars or voices generated by AI.

Why is this controversial?
- People are worried about privacy, especially younger creators or fans of games like Roblox who don’t want to give ID info.
- Some feel it’s unfair or scary to force creators to verify identity just because they use AI tools or have cartoon-style content.
- Others think this will limit creativity or make it harder for small creators to grow.

Why are there protests in the comments?
- Many Roblox creators and fans are young or use avatars, so they feel targeted by this change.
- They’re worried they might not be able to make content without showing ID.
- So, people are flooding comment sections, especially on official Roblox or YouTube-related videos, to protest or raise awareness.
- AI-Powered Age Estimation & Verification (Rollout Starts August 13, 2025)
- The Verge reports that starting August 13, YouTube will use AI to estimate whether users are under 18 based on behavior and account activity, then automatically apply protections like restricted content access, non-personalized ads, and wellbeing tools. Users flagged incorrectly can verify their age via government ID, a selfie, or a credit card.
- TechRadar explains this AI-driven age check, noting YouTube’s process uses signals like watch history and account age, and that it's currently being trialed in the U.S.
- Ars Technica raises concerns about privacy, especially around the verification appeals process, which may require submitting sensitive data—and highlights the lack of clarity around data retention.
- Windows Central emphasizes the AI’s role in distinguishing teens from adults to provide age-appropriate experiences.
- PC Gamer also covers the rollout, noting how YouTube uses viewing behavior to estimate age and enacts additional safeguards for minors while allowing verification for misclassified users.

-Is this confirmed?
YouTube has confirmed the AI labeling part, and some form of ID verification may be coming, but not everything is 100% clear yet. It might not affect all users mostly those using realistic AI content.

Add Ozzy and Franky as Assist Partners in Roblox Game "Project: Rusher"

Hello, I am Ozzy, otherwise known as Wyvren.

Me and my friend Franky, or "FrankleAnkles" created a song called Skibidi Slicers for a game known as "Project: Rusher". We feel that our song has been a very good addition to the game, and is a hard challenge (Go check out the game if you'd like!), but we feel like our efforts have been put in vain.

As a new update rolls out, there is a new feature known as the "Assist" feature. It adds characters to your gameplay that can add new gameplay effects you clear levels, whether it be easier (like healing with every note hit) or harder (only healing with perfect and ACE hits).

Me and Franky would like to be added as these assistants, me being the one providing the challenge and Franky being the one to provide helpful effects.

We are planning on making a Skibidi Slicers exclusive EP to celebrate if this reaches double it's intended amount.

Demand TikTok to ban all pro-anorexia content

Disturbing pro-anorexia content can still be found on TikTok. As such, TikTok is the only platform that has not taken concrete steps to ban this dangerous content and protect its users. Eating Disorders have the highest mortality rates of ALL mental health disorders, especially in teenagers. In the USA only, one person dies of an Eating Disorder every 52 minutes. Social media platforms like TikTok have a duty to protect their young users from potentially harmful content.

Because Frontier Communications is currently the only provider of wired Internet in the Concho and Concho Valley area and because they are a capped system, which does not allow new residents to sign up, we therefore petition Century Link to bring internet to this area. Their corporate offices have been contacted and they are still not willing to upgrade their system to allow new residence access to wired Internet.

Defend Freedom of Internet in Vietnam

On June 12, 2018, the Vietnamese Communist Party passed its contentious "Cybersecurity Law" despite many objections from the Vietnamese elites and its own people . Observers found that the law does not focus on helping the public secure their data and confidential information. On the contrary, it grants the Vietnamese Communist Party more control over Vietnamese users of the internet, as well as companies who serve them . Under this new law, all cyber activities in Vietnam will be controlled by the Ministry of Public Security .

The law requires business such as Google and Facebook to store data of Vietnamese users inside the country, to remove content within 24hrs upon requested from the Vietnamese Communist Party, and to cooperate with the Vietnamese Communist Party in providing data of the users .

Amnesty International said this is a "devastating blow to freedom of expression".

Human Rights Watch called for Vietnam to "withdraw problematic cybersecurity law", Brad Adams, Asia director of Human Rights Watch said: “The goal of Vietnam’s proposed cyber security law appears as much to protect the party’s monopoly on power as to protect network security,” Adams explained: “This bill, which squarely targets free expression and access to information, will provide yet one more weapon for the government against dissenting voices. It is no coincidence that it was drafted by the country’s Ministry of Public Security, notorious for human rights violations.”

Reporters Without Borders noted that "the new law is largely a copy-and-paste version of the cybersecurity law that took effect in China in June 2017." Daniel Bastard, the head of RSF's Asia-Pacific desk calls for the law to be repealed:
“We urge Vietnam’s legislators to quickly repeal this draconian new law, which reinforces government control over access to information,”

In an overt attempt to control its people, Vietnam has ignored its many commitments as a member of the International Community. Most significant among those are the United Nations with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The resolution of the United Nations Human Rights Council states that all persons, regardless of class, religion, sex, age, ethnicity, have the right to free access to the Internet and freedom of expression,

By passing the new Cybersecurity Law, the Vietnamese Communist Party also has violated commitments it made to the World Trade Organization, The Vietnam - EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), as well as the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) . These unintended economic consequences no doubt will hinder the future growth of Vietnam .

"These provisions will result in severe limitations on Vietnam's digital economy, dampening the foreign investment climate and hurting opportunities for local businesses and [small and medium enterprises] to flourish inside and beyond Vietnam," Jeff Paine, managing director at the Asia Internet Coalition, told Nikkei Asian Review . The Asia Internet Coalition is an industry association which seeks to promote the understanding of internet policy in the Asia-Pacific region whose members include Facebook, Google, LinkedIn, Apple, Twitter, LINE and Rakuten,

Vietnam is a country with 65% population under the age of 35. As of today, about 53 millions of Vietnamese are frequent facebook users. On December 25, 2017, at the national conference deploying tasks in 2018 held in Ho Chi Minh City, the struggle against "wrong views, allegations distort on cyberspace". was mentioned several times" Tuoi Tre Online reported. "Lieutenant General Nguyen Trong Nghia - deputy director of the General Political Department of the People's Army of Vietnam - affirmed that there were more than 10,000 cyberspace police in the force called 47 (under instruction 47) to spy on Vietnamese using internet . "The Central Military Commission is very interested in building up a standing force to counter the wrong viewpoints. The military security and defense forces have also developed and there will be dedicated forces on duty. cyber warfare", stated Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia .

Vietnam 's Cybersecurity Law must have been passed in a hurry as a tool for the Vietnamese Communist Party to control its people, violating freedom of expression and internet access to information .

Voice of Vietnamese Americans stands in solidarity with all Vietnamese to condemn and protest this law.
Please join us to defend freedom of internet, freedom of expression for the people inside Vietnam .

Monopolizing Internet in the City of Morganton NC

I live in Morganton. I was wondering why Charter Spectrum could not provide me with internet when I was 6 miles away from their building location. I drove over to see if there was a mistake. What it is , is that the city of Morganton will not allow Charter Services in the city limits. The only reason AT&T can is because they were registered as a phone company.

The people who live in the city Limits of Morganton are being withheld of high speed Internet because it appears that the city wants little or no competition with the Internet the city provides. Also to mention the city charges high fees for Internet speeds up to 45 mbps. Charter can provide 100mbps for lower fees.

Companies that provide options for Internet should not be stopped by any body of government. Citizens of Morganton should have all opportunities available when choosing Internet services.

Eradicate Fair Usage Policy on Internet Services Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka is in the midst of great developments, with an emerging sky line coming up in Colombo, and many foreign investments coming through.

This is the Global Age of digitization and has excellent IT infrastructure with 3 Submarine Cables covering the Country with Super Fast Internet connectivity and good fibre to home solutions.

Sri Lanka Is Placed No.1 in the present IT Infrastructure in South Asia and just behind Singapore in Asia. In this age of digitization one shall consider having limitations in terms of bandwidth an embarrassment with such good infrastructure, and the government's plan of implementing the public of the most remote parts of the island to be using internet connectivity in requirements of work and play.

So therefore we request the Ministry to take heed into this matter and find an amicable solution in Eradicating Fair Usage Policy (FUP) for Internet Services. The benefits of eradicating the FUP are many, but to name a few would be unlimited connectivity will guide people to explore new opportunities in business which in turn would increase trade, also Institutions would be able to Use Cloud services without any bandwidth issues through which they will be able to secure there CCTV Data to online cloud servers which would increase national security and would be able to use data dumping for their data stored in Local Physical Servers.
