Justice for Our Family: Drop the Charges & Grant a Pardon

We are writing this petition as grieving parents, not criminals.

On 5-27-25, our beloved child tragically lost his life in an accident that has shattered us beyond words. Instead of being supported in our mourning, we have been charged with serious crimes. We are now calling on the people, the legal system, and the Governor of North Carolina to recognize the deep injustice being done to our family.

We respectfully ask Governor Josh Stein to grant us a full and immediate pardon. We need healing—not punishment. We need compassion—not criminalization. Families across this country deserve protection, not prosecution, in times of loss. What happened to us could happen to any parent. And no one should face prison time for a tragic accident that stole their child away.

Please sign and share this petition to support justice, compassion, and common sense.

Petition to Offer Diverse Dietary Options at the University of Cambridge May Balls

As students of Darwin College at the University of Cambridge, we value the diversity and inclusivity of our community. We believe that events organized by our college, such as the May Ball, should cater to the various dietary preferences and needs of all attendees. Recently, we learned that the upcoming May Ball will be exclusively plant-based, which has raised concerns among some students who feel that their dietary preferences are not being accommodated.

Moreover, we have observed a growing trend where canteens at many colleges and events have begun to limit the food options available, often promoting plant-based selections without offering adequate non-plant-based options or even informed about. We feel that this approach undermines our individual choices and the importance of providing diverse dietary options. The May Ball's exclusively plant-based menu serves as a tipping point, and we believe it is time to address this issue.

Extend Radiation Exposure and Compensation Act beyond 2022

From 1951 to 1962, the United States Government conducted thousands of above and below ground nuclear testing in the Nevada Desert. Fallout from those tests blanked certain areas of Arizona, Nevada and Utah. People living in those designated areas, downwind from the testing areas, are known as "Downwinders."

On October 5, 1990, the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA) was passed by Congress and signed into law by President George H.W. Bush on October 15, 1990. This Act will provide jurisdiction and procedures for claims for compassionate payments for injuries due to exposure to radiation from nuclear testing in designated areas. The RECA Act provides for the monetary compensation of people, including atomic veterans, who contracted cancer and a number of other specified diseases as a direct result of their exposure to atmospheric nuclear testing undertaken by the United States Government during the Cold War, or their exposure to radon gas and other radioactive isotopes while undertaking uranium mining, milling or the transportation of ore.

NOW, THE RECA ACTI S UNDER THREAT OF EXPIRING
On July 10, 2022 the RECA Act funding will expire if Congress does not pass legislation to extend the fund which allows for qualified claimants to file for compensation. Also, free cancer screenings will stop. Screenings are vital, as early detection is the best protection. WE CANNOT LET THE RECA ACT EXPIRE!!!

Releasing of all Fixed Deposits (FDs) stuck at DHFL on humanitarian grounds

Dewan Housing Finance Corporation Ltd. (DHFL) is a deposit-taking housing finance company, headquartered in Mumbai with branches in major cities across India.

In 2019, DHFL stopped payment of bonds and defaulted on its loan obligations. This caused its stock to fall over 97% and a government intervention in the company
In August 2019, as efforts to draft a resolution plan by restructuring DHFL debt into equity, a few of the DHFL bond holders moved to the debt recovery tribunal, which could impact the resolution process.[20] The company meanwhile offered to repay all investors in full with due process of inter-creditor-agreement.
In October 2019, the Enforcement Directorate conducted raids at several places of DHFL offices and promoter residences and found links of money laundering activity in loans given to firms closely linked to the promoters of the company.[22] Additionally the trail of the loan given by DHFL to Sunblink real estate in 2010 lead to gangster Iqbal Mirchi, an accomplice of the organized crime mastermind Dawood Ibrahim.
On 20 November 2019, under Section 45-IE (I) of the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934, the Indian central bank removed the board of directors of Dewan Housing Finance Corporation Limited (DHFL). The reasons cited by the banking regulator for the dismissal of the DHFL board of directors were: inadequate governance and the various defaults on its payment obligations.
On 27 January 2020, the promoter of DHFL, Kapil Wadhawan was arrested under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The arrest was connected to his firm's alleged involvement in providing loans to the organized criminal enterprise of Dawood Ibrahim. On 22 February 2020, the PMLA court granted bail to Kapil Wadhwan. The Bombay high court upheld the bail decision by PMLA court, rejecting Indian Enforcement Directorate requests to stay the bail application.
The ED has linked Yes Bank for various fraud and transactions amounting to 3700 crores as debentures in DHFL. The central bank appointed administrator at Dewan Housing Finance (DHFL) has ordered a transaction audit at the non-bank lender after allegations of money laundering surfaced in the aftermath of the regulatory action on Yes Bank.

Based upon testimonies from minority students here at JMU there is a lack of diversity and feeling like they are not equally included in campus activities. Activities such as Greek life, clubs, classroom involvement and so much more. Students have brought their concerns to the attention of many faculty members such as President Alger and to the Student Affairs faculty. However, there has not been an active acknowledgment on behalf of President Alger.

Say No to I-House illegal eviction

March 23, 2020

International House

Attn: Office of the President

500 Riverside Drive

New York, NY 10027

Good evening, President of International House (NY):

We are current residents, alumni, and community members of International House NYC (“IH”). We are in receipt of your email “COVID-19 Update 3.22.2020” that was just sent out at 7:55 PM on March 22, 2020. We write in response to your email expressing your “urgency to expedite departures from the South Building” advising residents to move out of the International House “no later than Tuesday, March 24th if at all possible to prevent last minute crowding.” We are either students, researchers or artists. Your directive that we leave as soon as possible is causing so much fear and panic especially because we are international students, researchers or artist-fellows.

We have been told by lawyers that your request is in direct conflict with Governor Cuomo’s Stay-At-Home order directing residents to self-quarantine in their homes with the exception of essential workers. (See Executive Order No. 202-8) Most importantly, he issued a moratorium on evictions for 90 days. This means no one is to leave their current residence. Your request also poses an even greater public health risk to all New Yorkers. Two members of the IH community have been already found positive for COVID-19 - one IH staff member and one resident. Shockingly, we were not made aware that any resident was found positive until late Saturday night on March 21st, when we were told this resident died because of COVID-19. Your office has acknowledged that “numerous residents and staff have had close contact with this affected [staff member] in recent weeks and as such I-House is now considered an at-risk community.” (Email sent from the President’s Office on March 19, 2020 at 12:13 PM) You are forcing this “at-risk community” that is likely to have been exposed to COVID-19 to further expose any New Yorker whom we will come into contact with after leaving the International House. Therefore, we should in no way be forced to move out of our residence at the IH facility while New York State is fighting the spread of COVID-19.

We demand that IH follows the Governor’s Executive Order. There must not be any closing of the facility and we must not be forced to leave within 48 hours. The IH must continue to provide shelter to us during this public health crisis. While providing shelter, IH must also provide appropriate and necessary services, which include but not limited to deep cleaning of all the residence rooms and common areas, access to food, proper sanitising equipment, and appropriate staffing to provide these services while we remain where we are as per the Governor’s Executive Order. Your letter stated you are closing the cafeteria effective Tuesday, with no provision of food to those of us without kitchen facilities.

We demand that you retract your notice of having IH residents move out. Instead, let residents stay and self-quarantine with the appropriate and necessary services. Not only is this the responsible thing to do, but it is also the right thing to do under the Governor’s Executive Order and under the current pandemic. Please respond immediately.

Sincerely,

Residents of International House

In Lebanon, children die at the door of hospitals, because parents do not have enough money to pay for their children’s hospitalization.
In Lebanon, some children grow up and have not yet entered school.
In Lebanon, waste has spread to the streets because there is no environmentally friendly plan to get rid of the issue of waste and pollution.
In Lebanon, there is no social assistance system that is required to provide nutrition, housing, clothing and necessary medical care for those below the poverty line.
In Lebanon, the judiciary is political and unfair, judges in Lebanon are rightly right if the accused is weak and powerless, and are silent about those who stole the Lebanese treasury, which has led to poverty and starvation of the Lebanese people.

Therefore as The Lebanese-Swiss Association for human right protection, we are honoured to send the cry of the Lebanese people to the world for their help by demanding a lawsuit to the International Criminal Court in The Hague,to hold human and financial crimes that have been and continue to be practiced against the Lebanese people.
