Pa touss nou passion - la pêche artisanal

The minister of fishing is passing on a law prohibiting mauritians to practice artisanal fishing in the lagoon. This is unacceptable as artisanal fishing is the passion of the local people.

In fact, the authority must enforce the existant laws about fishing and control the size and amount of fish being fished in the lagoon.

The main issue here is illegal fishing such like 'la chaine' by big boats for business purpose and not the people who practice fishing as a hobby, leisure and most of all as a PASSION.

No To Daytime Visibility Jacket

Say no to wearing visibility jacket during daytime in Mauritius. Riders in Mauritius are against the law which has been enforced on 01/01/2014.

Our reasons are as follows:

1. It's a nonsense idea of wearing a visibility jacket during daylight, if such is really important pedestrian should be wearing it as well.

2. It's an appalling idea for riders. Riders come from poor background. They can't afford cars and more money is being made on their heads.

3. It's untrue to say that accidents happened involving motorcycles
during the day because of less visibility.

4. We are only against wearing it in daylight. We do understand its importance for night time.

The page UoM Crime Confessions is acting as a harassment for some students of UoM. This is the second time that this page has been created and it is a direct attack to some people's reputation.

This page is tarnishing the image of the University of Mauritius. Moreover the administrator of this page is hidden.

How many times should we report this page? And after some time they create another one.

Introduce foster homes to save stray dogs life

As many of us already know, the MSPCA is not unfamous when it comes to apparent cruelty towards animals. The Directors of the 'Association de la Justice' have been pleasantly surprised to the effect that all this is false or at least partly untrue.

In fact, the committee is putting brains together to keep its name flying high. The petition is to encourage 'humane' treatment as the MSPCA is trying its level best to promote by setting up kennels regionwise. In this respect thereof, each ward will have its own kennel and have a proper and safe place for all stray dogs. Not only will it curb the stray dogs and dangers arising but also contribute to better ethics and consideration towards animals.

It starts with you! Join the cause now and be part of the history where 'dogs on death rows in paradise' is no more....

Under all reservations.

President- Sebastien D'avoine

Vice Presidents- Mary-Queenie Adam and Stephane Adam.

« Retournez le Media Trust aux journalistes ! »

We are proudly Mauritian: Do not boycott Mauritius

The aim of this group is to counter a call for the Boycott of our Island by a few Irish people with regard to a judgement in the Michaela Harte murder case where the 2 accused were acquitted in Mauritius.

These Irish are calling on the Boycott of our Island until the murderers are locked up. Although we do sympathize with the family of the deceased, we firmly believe that a call for the boycott of our Island is unfair and unjust.

We are not here to trash and hit back on the Irish unless we are racially abused and our integrity as a nation is soiled. In as much as we have to defend ourselves, our aim is not equal to belittling them Irish. If they want to boycott our island, it is their choice and in no way are we going to starve of famine. We Mauritians are proud of our Nation. We will do whatever it takes to safeguard it.

We are aware of the flaws in our society and it is for us to deal with them and we have no lesson to learn from the Irish. All we are asking for is for them to stop treating us like criminals. We are proudly Mauritian and by no means murderers.

Mauritians for Palestine

Dear Mauritians

In view of the proposal for Palestine to obtain membership in the United Nations and hence be fully recognized as an independent state, we are circulating this petition to every Mauritians, be it the young as well as the elder people. We do, hereby, humbly request you to fill in your required details and by the beginning of next week; we will send it to the US Embassy of Mauritius, with a letter attached.

We wish to inform you that we are not affiliated to any political parties. We are doing this solely because these people are living as strangers in their own land. Our aim is to create awareness and despite being far from them, we are doing what we can for them. The way they are being treated is really inhuman when in fact, they are human beings like anyone of us and they have their rights as free people.

We take this opportunity to thank you all very much in anticipation for your participation.

Regards

Tougher laws against drink driving in Mauritius

I decided to start this petition following the death of Elisabeth Pigeot, a beautiful and talented 16 years old girl who died following severe injuries due to a car accident. The driver as it is usually the case in car accidents was under the influence of alcohol.

The suffering and pain felt by her family and friends is overwhelming. I have myself lost a family member to a car accident and understand their suffering. I am sick and angry that so many people are losing their life because of the irresponsibility of others.

In memory of all the innocent people who have lost their lives please join me in this battle to make things change for the better.

Thank you.
