Keep Construction Traffic Out of Old Catton

Say NO to construction traffic in Old Catton!

Taylor Wimpey have submitted planning application to amend approved construction traffic route, via Meteor Close, for the remainder of the build of the Sewell Meadow development. The x3 proposals for the construction traffic route are duplicated from planning application 20190533—Option 1 being the approved route. Application has been called into Planning Committee for consideration to allow the public the opportunity to comment on the amendment (normal consultation period does not apply for amendments).

Allowing the construction traffic to use St Faiths Road will affect residents living and working in Old Catton, particularly near Repton Avenue and St Faiths Road

Have your say and keep the construction traffic on the approved route and out of Old Catton

Ask City Commission to request public-funding-only proposals for Delray Beach Golf Club Renovation

Residents of Delray Beach:

A public meeting was held on February 22, 2023 at 6:00PM at the Delray Beach Golf Club, 2200 Highland Ave., Delray Beach, FL 33445 to gather public comments about the renovations and private/public partnership proposals. The overwhelming majority of residents in attendance voiced their concerns about further traffic congestion, population density, added pollution, and loss of green space. This concern is enhanced by the pending completion of the 292-unit apartment project on Atlantic Avenue & Congress Avenue blocks from Atlantic Community High School and the Golf Course and the lack of traffic studies before embarking on this project that would add in up to 650 units of multifamily housing.

A possible solution suggested by the voter-residents in attendance at the meeting was for City Commissioners to pause choosing ANY of the public-private partnership proposals to request the appropriate city departments to develop smaller-scale publicly funded proposals that the residents and the decision-maker could consider.

STOP A "COUNTRY INN" ON DEER SPRING ROAD IN MIDDLETOWN, MD

Seven Ponds Farm is a 44-acre property located at 4502 Deer Spring Road in Middletown, MD and less than a half mile from Braddock Heights, MD. The property is zoned Agricultural and has a cape-cod style residence on the property as well as a historic bank barn and corn crib. In 2014, Seven Ponds Farm was one of eight farms in the Middletown Valley featured in the 8th annual Barnstormers Tour and plein air paint-out sponsored by the Frederick County Landmarks Foundation. A picture of the property’s bank barn was the featured photo accompanying an article in The Frederick News Post about this tour. The article further discussed that, based on the nature of the barn’s construction, “the owner made an investment not just for his lifetime, but for generations to be born.” It estimated the barn was constructed between 1820-1830.

The property owner has requested Special Exception to its Agricultural Zoning, seeking approval to:
•	Triple the size of the main house on the property to 13,800 square feet to be used as a year-round wedding/event/meeting venue, including overnight accommodations (a “Country Inn”).
•	Re-purpose the 2,480 square foot two-story historic bank barn and the corn crib to wedding and activity space.
•	Pave two (2) additional parking lots on the property to accommodate 156 vehicles.
•	Allow for the influx of vendors (caterers, musical entertainment, etc.), employees, and up to 300 guests celebrating weddings and other events.
•	All-day wedding, banquet, and other event activity on the property lasting until at least 10:00 PM, potentially every day of the week with a concentration of events on weekends.

whether to approve or deny this application will be scheduled soon,

Riverview Exclusion From Neighborhood Infill Overlay 2021

Riverview is a diverse and thriving collection of several historic subdivisions, including three national historic registrations, that currently have diverse zoning codes including residential, multifamily, commercial and office use.

The Riverview district contains more than 1174 multi-family living units, from owned apartments and townhouse units to duplexes and townhouses, plus small, medium, and large apartment buildings with rental prices ranging from $425/month to $2910 in the Cosmopolitan which contains 264 units. Riverview just may be the MOST diverse residential neighborhood in the city!

The overlay creates an automatic "approval by right" for the proposed changes and removes the right of existing residents to participate in a forum of discussion before a board of review at the city level before approval is given.

There is currently a longstanding and equitable process in place citywide which allows for new construction or modifications outside current zoning allowances to be considered on a case-by-case basis. It also allows the residents of the neighborhood which would be impacted to give their input before approval is granted.

The existing zoning does not deny the opportunity for new construction. It ensures that development in the Riverview area is thoughtfully considered with ample opportunity for input from the people who live in the neighborhood so that new builds will enhance and not detract from the distinctive character of the diverse architectural styles that give the neighborhood its timeless appeal.

For the reasons listed above I believe that Riverview should be excluded from the Neighborhood Infill Overlay.

Cobb Citizens Against Pulte Overdevelopment of Ebenezer Road Z-31

Pulte Homes has applied to increase the density of development along Ebenezer Road, destroying the pastureland of "Lucy's Farm," cutting down the trees and leveling the site to build approximately 100 densely packed homes in a manner that will require many variances to county regulations. The history of this beautiful property containing two lakes is that it was long considered ideal for parkland and recreation. We now have the expectation that it will be developed.

Save the Sunflower Path

Attention: Neighborhood Impact Alert
www.thesunflowerpath.com

The steps of the Sunflower Path located between Proctor and Modoc Streets is a neighborhood space for people of all ages to enjoy the flowers, dinosaurs and animal sculptures. This artistic creation and labor of love began over 20 years ago and is enjoyed daily by those who ascend or descend the stairs.

It has come to our attention that the beautiful Sunflower Path is being threatened by another project without the knowledge or approval of the people who live in the neighborhood. This will change the Sunflower Path forever. The proposal is to permanently paint the stairs with a “Say their Names” themed statement.

We believe that this not an appropriate place for this project because it will alter a pre-existing artistic expression and more importantly it will impact the neighborhood negatively.

Stop Spring Valley Lake's Cell Tower

We as a neighborhood will be negatively impacting in many ways by the the 70+ foot cell tower proposed by The Spring Valley Lake Association President and Board Members, which will standout over our beautiful lake and land.
1. This plan was done behind our backs with no communication to the members and residents of this community.
2. Cell towers are dangerous as they omit Radio Frequency Radiation (RFR). This poses an unwanted risk to the health of our families and especially young children.
3. Aesthetics, this tower will reach beyond the tree line and be an eye sore.
4. The 70+ foot tower, driveway, and security fence will lower our property values today.
5. The parking area will created an unwanted nuisance and trash.
6. They will cut down many mature trees in order to develop all of this.
7. It will ruin all the natural beauty of our community.
8. It will decimate our home values.
9. Take action and sign this petition to stop this cell tower now. We will present this petition to The Spring Valley Lake Association President and Board Members,
Be on alert and watch your mail for the cell phone companies announcements,

STOP C40

The Preservation of Affordable Housing (POAH) won a contest for the C40 Reinventing Cities competition in 2018. Initially, there was no indication that the project would lead to any actual development. This project had the full backing and support of former mayor Rahm Emmanuel and while several aldermen assured community activists and organizations like mine that this project was 'nothing to be concerned about', as a resident, I am very concerned at the city of Chicago's ability to drive development that could lead to displacement and replacement of current residents. Almost 90% of residents in the footprint of the proposed site for development on 5th Ave & Kedzie had no idea what the C40-Garfield Green project was. POAH's organization admittedly had not gained any community input for the decision to build on said site and have only recently put out flyers detailing what the structure will look like, not at all asking if any of the residents would like it to be built at all. In fact, there are other sites on the table for the organization to consider that will bring less of a threat of gentrification if built there. The petition is simply asking the alderman of the ward (Alderman J. Ervin, 28th Ward) where the site is being built to put a stop to all development that will lead to displacement and replacement of legacy residents and to allow the opportunity for resident-led development to take place.
