May 15 marks the anniversary of the Nakba. In this petition, Global Kairos for Justice, a partner of Kairos Palestine, asks to the world to support its call to action, to sign the petition and to be partners in local and regional events on or around May 15, 2019. As the prophet Isaiah wrote, “Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed.” (Isaiah 1:17)

The purpose of the campaign is to collect signatures from students around the world on a letter addressed to U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki Moon, urging him to take action forwarding the recommendations of the Goldstone Report.

The campaign hopes to raise awareness about Gaza, the plight of the Palestinian people, and efforts towards accountability for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Palestine. Additionally, the campaign aims to contribute to efforts around the world to establish an honest rule of law in the Occupied Palestinian Territory [OPT].

A significant step towards accountability for the war on Gaza was taken when the Goldstone Report was adopted by the Human Rights Council in 2009. It is now the time that accountability begin, through compensation for the victims as recommended by the Goldstone Report. Human dignity lies in justice, and accountability is the people's means to establish a world regime of human rights.

The difficulties for the inhabitants began in the 1970s, when the village was declared a closed Israeli military zone. Some years later the Jewish settlements of Ro’i and Beka’ot were founded in the east of their land. Since then, Israel has imposed harsh restrictions on building and movement there that apply to Palestinians, effectively pushing them to leave area.

As you see history is being repeated in the most vicious way. Innocent children and civilians are dying by the hundreds each day and all anyone hears is praise for the Israeli soldiers for executing innocent lives. Imagine that they were targeting Australia and all around you, people and children are dying and you can not receive any medical help or any support from anyone. This is what is happening.

Please, Australia is a fair and loving country and i know that these images are very disturbing and i know that we will all stand behind the Australian Government as one to call a cease fire. Please look into your hearts and see that this is a crime against humanity.

Please sign this petition to show your support for an immediate end to the collective punishment of the residents of Gaza as a result of Israel’s ongoing siege. Since Saturday, the bombings by the Israeli military have murdered more than 345 people and injured 1,450 more. An offensive on the ground is imminent. Show your support--- end the massacres, end the genocide!

In the following day, CNN has reported that the "second day of aerial attacks brought the death toll in Gaza close to 300. Hundreds more people have been injured."
