Petition in support of EMT "Gus" Owen Dunn-Hindle and BAWU

We are asking Bangs Ambulance to re-hire EMT Dunn-Hindle without further delay. We believe Gus is being unfairly overlooked by Bangs Management because of his involvement in our Union Effort. In the spring of 2023, Gus notified Management of an internship opportunity and was told he would be made "inactive" if he pursued it- When the internship did not come through, Gus followed company policy and reapplied for his Job. This was ignored by Bangs Management for nearly 2 months- until our employer was confronted with an Open Letter signed by 15 of his co-workers, requesting that Gus be allowed to return to work....

Support Unionizing Civicorps Workers!

In early June, Civicorps staff across all departments decided to create a union, Civicorps United/CTA/NEA, in order gain a respected voice and representation in all decisions impacting teaching, learning, and youth development as well as a sustainable job that includes opportunities for upward mobility as well as competitive salaries and benefits.

Unfortunately, Civicorps has used legal tactics to delay recognizing Civicorps United. It is a contradiction for Civicorps leadership to say they are proud of the union jobs that Corpsmembers are able to attain after graduation, while at the same time denying their employees the right to a union.

A social-justice oriented, nonprofit public charter school should live its values and immediately recognize Civicorps United and begin negotiations.

They voted overwhelmingly to strike at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia to gain a fair wage and better working conditions.

Flight Attendants for a United Company

A petition by members in good standing of the Association of Flight Attendants at United Airlines, who want their union to hold a vote to decide collectively whether to accept the CALAFA contract dated July 13, 2012-December 31, 2014 AS IS, IN ITS ENTIRETY with the seniority list merged by date-of-hire as is stipulated in the AFA merger policy and stated by the letter dated April 11, 2011 by General Vice President Robert Roach, Jr. (IAM) and on page 4 of the Continental Flight Attendant Merger Survival Handbook.

For clarification purposes: there will be an adjustment for Continental Flight Attendants to reflect time spent in initial flight attendant training. In the case of two flight attendants having the same seniority, the older flight attendant will be senior.

Why do we need to accept this contract?

-Get United Airlines back on top as leader in the industry where we belong;

-Stop wasting money and valuable resources (both management and union's);

-Vastly improve employee morale and unify all departments;

-Put the focus back on our passengers and great customer service;

-End our frustration and get us back focusing on the job we love without these distractions;

Recognizing that many of the United flight attendants may not like some of Continental's current contract, if we don't become a united workforce now, then furloughs and other negative actions will continue. It will be better to lose a little now than a lot in the future. Our industry has a long history of turmoil in this area and frequently the employees are the ones that take the brunt of these consolidation actions.

This action will enable us to have more control over our future and put us ALL in a better bargaining position to renegotiate in December.

Prevention is Better than Cure – Prevent the McCann of Worms!

Keeping people physically and emotionally healthy is the best investment financially and socially for the South Australian community.

Keeping people healthy and enhancing well-being improves the quality of life for all South Australians.

Keeping people healthy actively reduces premature death.

Keeping people healthy reduces chronic diseases and health system costs associated with them.

The State Government is considering recommendations from the McCann review of Non-Hospital Based Services which include:

•	cutting services that keep people healthy including older people, women, adolescents and children.
•	cutting services that allow people with chronic health conditions to live independently.
•	cutting services that work to combat the obesity epidemic, including ‘Community Foodies’.
•	slashing up to 50% from services that are already struggling with tight budgets.
•	slashing up to 50% from services that are reducing the cost (both financial and human) that would be spent on medical treatment.

These recommendations from the McCann review are short-sighted and will only increase the burden on our already over-stretched hospital system. These recommendations are not based on sound evidence.

These recommendations are also completely at odds with previous review recommendations, current Government Policy, and international health thinking which support increased investment in primary health care, particularly disease prevention and health promotion.

We all know that prevention is better than cure, so please sign this petition which calls on the State Government to reject these recommendations of the McCann review.

Prevention is better than cure, so keep people as healthy as possible and prevent the McCann of worms!

« Retournez le Media Trust aux journalistes ! »

Keep bank holidays, closed days and weekends special

The University of Birmingham are proposing to change the terms and conditions of all support staff by cutting the pay of support staff for working bank holidays, closed days and weekends and making them compulsory for many. New administrative staff have been placed on a 'any 5 day in 7' contract.

UNISON believes that these changes undermine staff's work life balance, health and well being and that these are important to both staff and the student experience

Review the proposed 2012 NMBA increased registration fee for nurses and midwives

We draw the attention of the NMBA and the Minister for Health & Ageing to the outrage of the professions at the decision of the NMBA to increase the 2012 registration fee for nurses and midwives by $45.00 from $115.00 to $160.00, that is an increase of almost 40%.

Whilst we continue to support self-regulation (which means being self-funded) and we continue to oppose any cross subsidisation between professions, we do not believe this increase is justifiable. We believe that any increase should not exceed the growth in Consumer Price Index (CPI) or wages growth.

One of the alleged benefits of moving to National Registration was the increased efficiencies and economies of scale that could be achieved by a national model. We have seen no evidence of such economies or efficiencies being implemented by the NMBA or their secretariat, the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

In addition, the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC) receives direct payment from training organisations who are seeking accreditation for nursing and midwifery programs of study. The cost implications of accreditation and monitoring should be factored into that payment to ANMAC.
