Arizonans have had enough. They decided to stop waiting for the Feds to do what the Constitution mandates--to protect its citizens from external threats. So they passed legislation to help stop the robberies, shootings, rapes, kidnapping, murders, and madness.

This isn't about racism, or xenophobia, or "apartheid" or any of the other hysterical slanders the left has come up. This is about the safety and well-being of the citizens of the state. And its support was overwhelming: 70% of Arizonans supported it. And support is Bi-Partisan, with 84% of Republicans and 51% of Democrats in favor.

But some have now come out and called for a boycott of Arizona. Incredibly, even one of its own U.S. Representatives--Rep. Raul Grijalva has joined this call for a boycott--of his own state!

Several lobby groups have attempted to pressure and persuade the BC government (among others) to end sport hunting. Sport hunting is a very useful and important tool in wildlife management and no group is more passionate about wildlife and proper management than outdoorsmen and the hunting community. These lobby groups have targetted the BC Grizzly bear hunt in an attempt to eventually end all sport hunting.

Game management is important to all groups of outdoor recreationalists, tourits, outdoorsmen, and the future generations in Canada, North America, and the world. The endless projects and financial support for wildlife management by outdoorsmen have led the way to create stable and supporting management practices.

Human impact will continue to provide challenges to managing wildlife properly. This petition is created to show the numbers of people who truly support proper wildlife management and who feel that the BC grizzly hunt should not be cancelled due to pressure from Lobby groups whose interests do not lie in proper or sustainable wildlife management.

Family Day Care is a network of Educators who provide education and care in their own homes for children aged birth – 12 years.

Each Educator is registered with a Family Day Care Service who support and monitor the provision of the education and care service.

Who is NSW Family Day Care Association?

The NSW Family Day Care Association (NSWFDCA) is the peak organisation for Family Day Care Services in NSW providing advocacy, training and support.

From the 1st of January 2014 the educator to child ratios will change. Educators currently provide care for up to 7 children under the age of 12, with a maximum of 5 children not yet attending school.

In 2014, educators will provide care for up to 7 children under the age of 13, with a maximum of 4 children not yet attending school.

This change to ratios will affect the viability of family day care in NSW.
• 4000 children each day in NSW will not have the placement in family day care;
• Educators incomes will be reduced if they do not increase fees;
• Services will incur a significant decrease in income and be presented with barriers to recruitment of educators.
• Families will be faced with higher fees and less choice.

There has been no specific research with regard to the best educator to child ratios in a mixed age group setting in family day care.

Different States and territories have different transition dates to comply with the Education and Care Services National Regulations. We are currently operating with 1:5 ratios. We are providing quality education and care for children.

What do we want?

We request an extension of the transition date for the change of ratios in order for the research to be conducted.

We propose that research be carried out by an independent group of researchers. We need to know whether there are educational and social advantages to children within Family Day Care that justify the ratio change.

The snares are very poorly targeted and non-specific - and the number of non-targeted victims of other species can approach or equal the those of the targeted animals (background information: www.naturalart.ca/voice/blog.html- 21 February 2013 entry).

Wolves and other apex carnivores have high ecological value and potentially high economic value (background information: www.naturalart.ca/voice/wolfvalue.html). Their cost to society is extremely low (background information: www.naturalart.ca/voice/wolfcost.html). Yet the Government of BC manages them as vermin, reducing their population numbers as low as possible without actually endangering them.

Killing neck snares are most commonly used to “protect” cattle that are grazing on publicly-owned land. Depredation rates on cattle in BC by predators are minuscule - under one tenth of one percent of the total cattle that graze on public lands. This grazing has been described by scientists and politicians “as the most pervasive and destructive use of public lands” - and it occurs on 8.5 million hectares (almost 33,000 square miles) of land in BC. On this publicly-owned land the welfare of domestic cattle that are owned by private entrepreneurs currently takes priority over ecologically-valuable apex carnivores that are owned by all citizens of BC. And, the killing of wolves and other carnivores on this public land is paid for by the tax dollars of all British Columbians (an ecological and economic subsidy we all pay for).

It is time to stop the barbaric and inhumane practice of using neck snares to kill apex carnivores on public land. And it is time to reverse a policy that is completely backwards: the government of BC must move towards wildlife management policies that, on public land, give priority to all naturally-occurring and ecologically-valuable species of wildlife, and that are owned by all British Columbians, over that of the welfare of ecologically damaging domestic species (including cattle) that are owned by private entrepreneurs.

Tara Santelices, 23 years old graduate of the Ateneo de Manila was shot in a robbery-hold up incident inside a passenger jeep along Felix Ave. Cainta, Rizal. She was on her way home past midnight (August 6, 2008, about 12:30 AM) with a friend coming from a night out on the eve of her 23rd birthday.

Somewhere along a dark stretch of Felix Ave. near Karangalan Village, a man posing as a passenger, pulled a gun and announced a hold-up. The man grabbed Tara's bag. Instinctively, Tara held on to her bag and in the ensuing struggle, the man shot Tara and hit her on the left side of her forehead. After getting the bag of the others, the man jumped off the passenger jeep. Tara's companion, who has never been in that situation asked for help from the other passengers, and told the driver to bring them to the nearest hospital, as blood was already spurting out of Tara's head. But instead of driving speedily to the nearest medical facility, the driver drove as if it was one of his regular trips, even stopping three times to unload a passenger. Of the five or six other passengers, only one bothered to help Tara's friend carry her. The rest just went about their business as if nothing serious happened. In fact some of the passengers even opted to stop the vehicle for them to get off, wasting precious time for medical attention. The driver eventually took them to a small clinic. But even as Tara's companion was talking to a medical personnel in that small clinic, the driver drove-off leaving them to look for a taxi to bring Tara to a better equipped hospital. Tara was given the appropriate medical attention only about four hours later. The police went to the hospital to talk to the witness (Tara's friend) only a day later.

It is the height of apathy and indifference that our fellowmen show no concern about each other specially in such emergency situation as that involving Tara. It is revolting to know that transport drivers whom our lives and safety are actually under their responsibility as paying passengers, do not know what to do or even try to avoid responsibility under such situations. It is also contemptible that the police had to act so late and only after follow-ups by friends were made with higher authorities.

Tara has been lying in bed, in a coma ever since the incident, her skull shattered by a bullet. Her dream of doing humanitarian work with the United Nations has been shattered as well. Chances of her recovery is almost nil. And the family remains tortured and pained seeing their precious child in that condition every day, feeling helpless. They, however, remain strong in their belief that Tara's fate is in the hands of The Lord Almighty and continues to pray for a miracle.

But we are not entirely helpless if we help ourselves. Even as we continue to storm the heavens with our petitions for Tara's recovery, we can storm those here on earth who have the responsibility and the means to stop this kind of violence, to prevent it from ever occurring again, or from happening to us and our loved ones.

Instead of dismissing this incident as one of those that routinely happens in our streets and thinking about immigrating abroad to escape the situation, we can do something more positive and more concrete.

Let us sign the petition below and join the effort to do battle to combat our own apathy, and to exact responsibility from those who took an oath to serve us - the Public.

(UPDATE: On September 15, 2008, it was reported in the local news that the alleged suspect in the Tara Santelices shooting has been killed in an encounter with lawmen in Antipolo City, Province of Rizal, while being pursued by police. He's apparently also a suspect in other crimes including robbing a gas station in the area. A witness to the crime however claims that the man killed by the police was not the real assailant.)
