Petition against the release of Alison Botha's attackers!

Johannesburg - Two men who raped Alison Botha in Noordhoek, in Port Elizabeth, in 1994 and then slit her throat, could get parole soon after serving just 17 years of their sentence.

Theuns Kruger and Frans du Toit, who'd left her for dead, were both sentenced to life behind bars in August 1995.

However, in terms of legislation which came into effect in June last year, all prisoners who were sentenced to lifelong imprisonment before 2004 and have already served 13 years and four months, can apply for parole.

Du Toit and Kruger raped Alison, stabbed her more than 30 times with a knife and tried to slit her throat 16 times. She was left for dead in the veld. They'd told the Port Elizabeth High Court that the devil made them do it.

Alison's aorta and larynx were not severed, which enabled her to breathe. She had to gather her intestines and tuck them into her shirt while she held her head on her body with her other hand.

She staggered to the nearest road, where a medical student saw her and rushed her to the Port Elizabeth Provincial Hospital.

The following morning Du Toit and Kruger used the bloodied knives with which they'd slashed Alison to butter their bread.

Kruger, who is doing his time in Pretoria, appeared before the parole board on December 14 and is said to be bragging to other inmates that he will be out of there soon.

Puleng Mokhoane, the Free State spokesperson for correctional services, said Du Toit had appeared before the parole board at the Grootvlei prison in Bloemfontein on January 10.

Frightened

She said the "necessary procedures" would be followed.

Alison had not been aware of the possible parole for Kruger and Du Toit before being contacted by the media.

She said she was extremely shocked as she'd already applied last year to appeal against their possible release should parole be considered.

"I now realise that I'd clung to a false sense of security and never even considered the possibility that they could be freed.

"I will be frightened if they are released and I would very much like to be part of their parole hearing."

Sonwabo Mbananga, the minister of correctional services' spokesperson, said parole applications were not granted or turned down by parole boards.

They are merely part of an "administrative process" after which the case is referred to the National Council of Correctional Services, where factors such as the Judge's comments during sentencing, psychological reports and the prisoner's rehabilitation are considered.

The final decision rests with the minister, Mbananga said.

Stop Trophy/Canned Hunting

Canned hunting, the hunting of wild animals in a confined area from which they cannot escape, is not only legal in South Africa, it is flourishing.

Hunters from all over the world, but notably from the United States, Germany, Spain, France and the UK, flock to South Africa in their thousands and send home lion body parts, such as the head and skin, preserved by taxidermists, to show off their supposed prowess.

The animals involved are habituated to human contact, often hand-reared and bottle fed, so are no longer naturally fearful of people. Such animals will approach people expecting to get fed-but instead receive a bullet, or even an arrow from a hunting bow. This makes it easier for clients to be guaranteed a trophy and thus the industry is lucrative and popular.

Stop Lion Trophy Hunting in South Africa

The lion population in Africa is being reduced fast. 50 years ago there were 450,000 lions. Today as little as 20,000 remain. Less than half of that number lives in South Africa. Lion Trophy hunting is at an all time high. The Lion Trophy Hunting industry, including Canned Hunting (where lions are bred to be shot in cages) is much to blame for this shocking decrease of the African Lion population.

The government refuses to stop the issue of Lion Hunting permits even though lions are fast becoming an endangered species.

Trophy hunting is out of control in South Africa. 99% of the South African people want it banned now. Trophy hunting is being explotated by Asian gangs that see a lucrative market in the Rhino horn.

The main concern is the Rhinoceros (pronounced /raɪˈnɒsərəs/), often abbreviated as rhino. Organised gangs mainly from Asia are hunting down the Rhinoceros for a horn that has been proven not to be of any medicinal use.

Only 3 out of the remaining 5 Rhinos are now left in the wild mainly in Africa.

A full census must be carried out on the Rhino to determine it's population so conservation teams can plan its future too.

Should the census not be carried out then one can not plan out an emergency conservation plan should we later find that the population is lower than has been over estimated by government.

Stop the killing of Cape Town's Baboons

Update (July 13, 2010) William of Scarborough is the first non-dispersing male to be killed under the new "raiding baboon" protocol. He was trapped and killed in secret without any public knowledge or input around the decision making.

UPDATE (May 15, 2010): IT HAS BEEN CONFIRMED THAT CAPE NATURE CONSERVATION HAS ALREADY CAPTURED AND KILLED "SOL", ONE OF THE DISPERSING MALES THAT WERE "TAGGED" LAST YEAR, IGNORING ALL NON-LETHAL OPTIONS OFFERED TO THEM, AND OPERATING BEHIND CLOSED DOORS, DESPITE VEHEMENT PUBLIC PROTEST. THIS WAS DONE UNDER THE NEW "DISPERSING MALE" PROTOCOL

----------------------------------

Plans are under way to cull Cape Town's dispersing male and repeat raider baboons. Bart, a dispersing male recently seen at UCT is one of the first of a number of healthy adult males targeted for euthanasia.

Three offers have been made to relocate him and other dispersing males elsewhere off the Peninsula, but these are being ignored by the Wildlife Advisory Committee, even though translocation is an option set out in the new protocol.

(To date- July 2010, we do not know what happened to Bart as he disappeared late last year).

Stop Financial Institutions Acting in Bad Faith

In June 2007 the National Credit Act came into effect as a new law. NCR Registered Debt Counsellors work according to the National Credit Act and are governed by the National Credit Regulator.

Debt Counselling is a process that helps consumers who cannot afford to pay their normal monthly debts, while protecting them under the National Credit Act.

Debt Counselling is not a free holiday from paying your debt, but rather a more structured way to help consumers pay their debt, while still being able to have money for necessary living expenses.

This needs to be done in a fair and reasonable manner both towards the consumer and the credit provider.

Debt counsellors are professionals who help others in need while taking on a very stressful position of being the mediation between consumers and creditors. Debt counsellors have saved 1000's of homes, cars, assets and given peace of mind to 1000’s of consumers in financial stress.

The Debt Counselling Industry needs YOU – Unite and help us to make the difference.

DECLERATION OF FREEDOM: Reinstatement of the BOER Republics

We address this matter to you as the President of South Africa and leader of the ANC.

1.	We refer to our previous letters to you, dated 26 November 2015, and 31 May 2017, that was each time handed over to one of your representatives.
2.	In those letters we already referred to our demand of FREEDOM, SELF-DETERMINATION, and the reinstatement of our BOERE-REPUBLICS, namely Transvaal and the Orange Free State.
3.	As you know, more than eight hundred thousand white South Africans voted NO in in referendum of 1992. The then National Party under the promise that white South African’s language, culture, history, education and land would be protected held this referendum.
4.	As you also know, during the negotiations at KODESA, the same promises were made.
5.	During this time, the ANC also promised General Constand Viljoen that the white people of South Africa the right have to SELF-DETERMINATION. The ANC made this promise because they were, at that stage, afraid of a civil war in South Africa.
6.	But 23 years after your party, the ANC took over as the ruling party, we the BOERE-AFRIKANERS still have not seen anything about these promises.
7.	We, the BOERE-AFRIKANERS acknowledge that you and your party do not want us here, and we will be happy to go to our own land, where we can rule ourselves and be safe.
8.	We, the BOERE-AFRIKANERS have been tortured, maimed, killed in the past 23 years under your party’s rule, our heritage, culture, history, language and freedom has been taken away and even though you do not acknowledge it, there is a planned and systematic genocide against the BOERE-AFRIKANERS going on in South Africa.
9.	WE, the BOERE-AFRIKANERS is part of Africa, and has been for more than 360 years, and we demand the right to freedom, just as any other tribe has in Africa.

Objection to the contract proposed with PEU by the City of Tshwane

In 2011 the City of Tshwane put out tender CB364/2011 for a team of financial and legal advisers only to suggest “revenue-generating opportunities” for the city.

In March 2012 PEU Capital Partners was appointed to the panel with no reason is given for this appointment.
The City then invited all panel advisers to submit proposals for “off-balance sheet solutions”.

On 11 May 2012 PEU submitted a proposal for not only funding but also managing and administering a project to handle, for the next 8 to 11 years, electricity collection through compulsory use of Smart Meters by all ratepayers.

On 21 May 2012, ten days later, the CoT accepted this proposal and appointed PEU for 8 to 11 years, without public consultation and without putting the project out to tender.

There is no way the original tender CB364/2011 could have covered this project. Moreover, it is gathered from the FQAs that the council has been hastily rewriting by-laws in order to legalise this project.
