In response, a UN Secretariat spokesperson told the press on July 23 that Taiwan’s application “could not be received and was, thus, returned” in keeping with “the one-China policy of the United Nations” enshrined in General Assembly Resolution 2758. This behavior is shocking, both for its arrogance and its ignorance.

The UN Charter and UN procedural rules unambiguously stipulate that the secretary-general shall immediately refer membership applications to the Security Council. The Security Council must deliberate the matter and make a recommendation to the General Assembly, whose members are to discuss the matter and vote on it. The UN Secretariat, however, has co-opted the UN member states’ deliberative and decision-making powers.

The UN chief’s action is disturbing also because he has grossly misconstrued both the nature of Taiwan’s membership application and the import of Resolution 2758. The application in no way constitutes a challenge to the right of the government of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) to represent China. Nor does the resolution imply that Taiwan is a part of China.

At a great price in suffering over the course of 38 years of martial law, the people of Taiwan have created a vibrant democracy, rated Asia’s freest country by Freedom House in its 700-page Freedom in the World 2006 report.

For this reason, and in order to underline the fact that Taiwan makes no pretense of vying for the right to govern China, President Chen’s application requests “the admission of Taiwan as a member of the United Nations,” not of the “Republic of China.” This follows the well-established precedent of employing names for participation in the UN and other international organizations that are different from domestically used, constitutional names.

Irrespective of the status of Taiwan, the Taiwan Strait is indisputably one of the world’s most dangerous flashpoints. Given that China threatens to launch a war of annexation, has deployed a thousand missiles targeted at Taiwan, and refuses to talk directly with the democratically elected government in Taipei, it devolves upon the United Nations to fulfill its role of international peacekeeper in the region. At the very least, it should facilitate communications between all parties who have a stake in preserving peace in East Asia before a crisis situation develops.

UN organizations and officials must therefore cease allowing themselves to be intimidated by the totalitarian PRC government into making unwise decisions. In particular, they must stop kowtowing to its claim that Taiwan is a province of the People’s Republic of China. Nor is Taiwan part of a “divided China” comprised of PRC and ROC segments.

The UN Charter mandates membership for all states. Taiwan indisputably is a sovereign state, having for nearly six decades fulfilled all of the criteria for statehood stipulated in the 1933 Montevideo Convention. Unlike the PRC, Taiwan is also a state in which sovereignty rests in the people, as prescribed by the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Therefore, all nations that champion rule of law, freedom, and human rights are morally bound to support UN membership for Taiwan. We will never trade freedom for tyranny.

On September 1st, 2007, the show "I guess, I guess" openly insulted anime and manga fans around the world. Rather than exploring the true nature of Anime as the show originally claimed to be, the show was focused on insulting the guest fans and harshly making them appear as outcasts and geeks. Though I am sure an English or Japanese subtitled version of that day's broadcast will surface in youtube soon, let me summarize the number of remarks made during the show.

1. Anime fans are criminals who doesn't deserve to live in this world.
They are dirty, unintelligent and they don't fit in the society.

2. When the guests try to defend themselves by adding comments that
they do have social circle, have a job and girl friend. The producer simply erased those clips in order to make them stay as geekish as possible.

3. The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi(Published by Kadokawa.) was portrayed by the host of the show, Jacky Wu as a pronographic novel about high school prostitutes. As he holds up the novel of Suzumiya Haruhi and reads out loud, he made up a fake story about two high school girls abducted and sexually molested.

The show consist of Jacky Wu and the disastrous "Hei Ser Huei MeiMei"(Horrible failed copycats of Morning Musume). Jacky Wu had been known for making ignorant public opionions for years. This time he had gone too far. The concept of the shows he hosts are mainly stolen straight from Japanese media. "I guess, I guess" being one of them.

We are here demanding an open apology from the Producer, the host Jacky Wu, and the stupid be-atches who claimed anime fans are criminals who doesn't deserve to live. In our opinion, they are the as-holes who doesn't deserve to live in this world. Please support the Taiwanese fans. Feel free to leave your comments here! =)

As it was aired, it caught millions and millions of viewers getting an average rate of 4.4/5 (88%). This drama, obviously, made a great impact in whole asia. The casts and the crews has indeed shown an excellent work making this unique drama one of the bests.

But still few questions were cliffhanging. What will happen next after the mistress's stay in America? Will Nan Feng Jin and Mai Qiu Sui get married? What will happen to the Huangfu Corp? There were loads of questions left unanswered. We, the undying fans of Romantic Princess, certainly want to perceive a happily-ever-after finale.

Vast number of us demands you to please consider making another season. We utterly love to witness Huangfu Shan's life once again.

The wasteful, inhumane practice is done to satisfy a demand for shark fins, which can fetch as much as $300 per pound. The meat, on the other hand, is far less valuable, so fishermen toss it overboard to save space for more fins.

Not only is it an intensely wasteful and harmful practice, it's also essentially pointless since shark fins have no nutritional or medicinal value. And they're practically flavorless. Yet, finning continues, to the point that these animals so vital to the ecological balance of our oceans are about to be wiped out completely

What's so great about shark fin soup? Really, nothing. They have no nutritional value and are practically tasteless. When it comes to shark fin soup, all the flavor comes from the broth. The fins are added just for texture and novelty. The shark fin is merely a status symbol and a mark of tradition. Still, shark fin soup is part of Asian culture, particularly in China and Taiwan, as a meal eaten during celebrations among the wealthy. But with their economies rapidly growing, more people can afford to buy this symbol of a luxurious life and the demand for shark fins is increasing. Unfortunately, it is increasing in conjunction with a serious decrease in shark populations globally.

Finning is responsible for the death of between 88 million to 100 million sharks every year. Exact numbers are unknown because the practice is illegal in many places and hauls aren't accurately counted.
Because sharks are at the top of the food chain and have few predators, they reproduce and mature slowly. That means their numbers are slow to replenish when a population is overfished. At the rate humans are going, we're set to wipe out sharks entirely in as little as 10-20 years.

Sharks are an apex predator. Apex predators are invaluable for keeping the populations of everything else in the food chain in balance. The oceans depend on them to keep the numbers of other fish and mammal species in check and weed out the sick, injured and dying so that populations of fish stay strong and healthy. Without sharks -- from bottom feeders all the way up to Great Whites -- the balance of the ocean's food chain is in danger.

This is not just a guessing game, either. We've already seen the impact a loss of sharks can have on an ecosystem. According to Shark Savers, a scientific study conducted in the mid-Atlantic part of the United States showed that when 11 species of sharks were nearly eliminated, 12 of the 14 species those sharks once fed on became so plentiful that they damaged the ecosystem, including wiping out the species farther down the food chain on which they preyed. The negative effects trickle out as the ecosystem gets thrown out of balance.

Pilot whales (Calderon dolphins) are two species of cetacean in the genus Globicephala. The genus is part of the oceanic dolphin family (Delphinidae). The two species are the long-finned pilot whale and the short-finned pilot whale. The two are not readily distinguished at sea. They and other large members of the dolphin family are also known as blackfish.

The short-finned pilot whale has also been hunted for many centuries, particularly by Japanese whalers. In the mid-1980s the annual Japanese kill was about 2,300 animals. This had decreased to about 400 per year by the 1990s. Killing by harpoon is still relatively common in the Lesser Antilles and Sri Lanka. Due to poor record-keeping it is not known how many kills are made each year, and what effect this has on the local population.

Both species are also collaterally caught and killed in longline and gill-nets each year.

中共統治大陸之初為了普及教育而簡化了部份文字. 但這對高等教育就有不足了. 我建議簡体字衹施教至九年級, 十年級以上的教材均用繁体字. 試問中共的高幹有誰不懂繁体字？香港、台灣、新加坡寔施繁体中文教育又有何難？

Petition for a Reduced Sentence for the Injured Worker Liu Hanghuang on Humanitarian Grounds

On 16 June 2009, Liu Hanghuang, a factory worker in Dongguan, fatally stabbed two of his Taiwanese employers and left a third critically injured. This is definitely an unbearable tragedy for both sides, especially an irreparable regret for the family of the Taiwanese businessmen.

However, based on the following reasons, we hope that the courts in China can take into consideration the extenuating circumstances.

As a migrant worker from the Province of Guizhou, Liu Hanhuang hoped to improve the economic conditions of his family, but unfortunately his hand was severed in an industrial accident. All hope was lost with a crippled body. Liu had tried to discuss the issue of compensation with his employers for a year without reaching agreement. It is fully understandable how a worker in a subordinate position, facing the much more powerful company and lacking necessary support, felt both helpless and hopeless.

The fact that Liu attempted suicide by threatening to jump from a fifth-floor ledge at the factory before the murder bears witness to his pressures and pains. It is of course illegal and unacceptable to commit homicide, but a sympathetic understanding is indeed possible if this case is placed in the context of “going off to work → occupational injury → prolonged negotiation of compensation → the subordinate position of the worker → the worker’s pressures and pains.”

Do not abolish Traditional Chinese.

The United Nations has an obligation to protect cultural assets, not to abolish!

There are 36 million people in Taiwan that use TC and double that in the whole world.

Computer aids have eliminated all the disadvantages of Traditional Chinese.

Keep TC in the free world.
