Bring Back Millsberry.com

Millsberry.com was a place where kids could learn about giving back and the importance of changing the world.

On top of that, you played educational games,had your own house, learned about shopping and money, and the history of philanthropy. As a kid, I loved that place. They shut the site down last year.

This was a place of youth and freedom. I'm 14 now, but let's bring it back for the young kids now.

"Corbin's outta space"

PLEASE go to "Corbin's outta space" is back.....
http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/corbins-outta-space-is-back.html

-------------------------------------

Update: February 2009

Ty Pennington coming to Duluth. Their looking for families to apply for the show.

Many of you may remember we started this petition last year because we wanted to show the producers how much Corbin is loved by every one around the world.

Since the Extreme MakeOver is coming to Duluth, we have decided to reapply

So................

PLEASE sign Corbin's petition!!!!
Even if you signed before, it will just show how many faithful supporters Corb has. THANK YOU ALL!!!

----------------------------------

UPDATE: January 2008

We sent in the video & application for the show, including the signatures from the petitions (over 3,000 on-line & over 1,000 on-paper).

Now we are keeping our fingers crossed that Corbie gets picked.

THANK YOU EVERYONE for supporting us!!!!!

---------------------------

UPDATE: Oct. 4, 2007
We want to share with you why we started this petition.

You do NOT need a petition to apply for the Extreme Makeover show but we wanted to show the cast & crew members that not only do we as his family but you all as a community & the world, support, love & want to see our sweet blue eyed boy archive his full potential.

We are the Fritze family from Superior WI.
Caradie, Bill, Austin 12, Noah 9 & Corbin Lee 3.

Our sweet Corbie almost went to heaven on May 22, 2005 when he was only 14 & ½ months old.

Being a toddler, when he found a piece of our dog's broken off toe nail on the floor, he tried to eat it. It became lodged in his throat, he began struggling for air & while I was on the phone with 911 he turned blue & then he passed out and died in my arms.

The doctors informed us that Corbin would like remain in a persistent vegetative state. In other words we were told our sweet toddler would now not be able to eat by mouth, walk, talk, move or even be aware of his surroundings.

Corbin is defying all the odds, he is fully aware. Plus so much more.

Two years after his accident on May 22, 2007 we held a “Fundraising Celebration” spaghetti dinner/dance to raise funds to help get Corbin into an intensive 3 week, 3 hours a day, 5 days a week therapy program at Special Children Center in Hudson WI.

We were successful...
Corbin & I (Caradie his momma) stayed in a motel from June 10 – 30, 2007.

Corbin has made some wonderful progress with the therapies they provided, also they help design home programing & he also continues to progress with his new home therapies.

But............................

Sadly....
We are unable to implement all of the amazing home therapy programs they gave us simply because we have run “outta” (out of) space in our very small 2 bedroom home

Realistically we out grew our house before Corbie's accident but because Bill (daddy) needing to take a lot of unpaid time off of work to care for the older boys Austin 11 & Noah 9, while I cared for Corbin, we had to take out a loan against our house so, now we owe more on the house then it is worth & we're stuck in a house that has already been over run with therapy things & Corb is only 3 years old

So...
We are requesting for your continued support, by signing our petition asking ABC's Extreme MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION to help us.

Thank you for taking a moment to check out our son's petition for the show ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.

Cody Michael's Law

In 2004 my son, Cody Drumond was beat and kicked repeatedly in the head which later resulted in his death by 2 teen boys.

My son had merely whistled at their family member; in which he apologized to her. All was forgiven with the girl and her boyfriend but that wasn't enough for the 2 boys. They both decided to teach my son a lesson. What type of lesson is death for merely whistling at someone? Both of whom had prior violence issues and my son was not the first one they had beat up; it was however the first death they caused.

They both were tried as juveniles. It was brought out in the trial the numerous problems and issues they had with prior violence of the same nature.

How many more will die before we get this changed? Teens have to know that the any crime has consequences and just not a slap on the wrist. One way to make this happen is to make harsher sentences to stop the violence in our streets.

Thank you All for your support! With your help we can get this changed!

Teens with a history of violence should be held more accountable if their victim dies because of their actions. One way of doing that is being automatically tried as adults.

Vigo County Fairgrounds: NOT FOR SALE

Thompson-Thrift and Gibson Development have offered to purchase the Wabash Valley Fairgrounds by swapping a 111 acre piece of land for a 72 acre plot and giving the Fair Board $9.2 million.

The existing fairgrounds would be used to construct a new shopping center, which would be located a whole .15 miles away from Honey Creek Mall.

The new location would be out of the way for 4-Hers and business at the fair would suffer due to lack of traffic. They haven't considered the feelings of 4-H members (which I am) or parents. These are the people that would directly suffer from the change.

I ask you to sign this petition and save the fairgrounds for the youth.

Joint Declaration of the Overseas Vietnamese Communities
Regarding Communist Vietnam’s Pressure on the Government of Indonesia to demolish the former Refugee Camp in Pulau Galang, Batam (Riau, Indonesia)

In March 2005, 150 former Vietnamese Boat People from several resettlement countries returned to Bidong (Malaysia) and Galang (Indonesia) in order to erect monuments in memory of their fellow refugees who had lost their lives in quest for freedom, and to thank the peoples of Malaysia and Indonesia for their generosity and compassion towards the Indochinese refugees. Two months later, the Vietnamese communist government urged the governments of Malaysia and Indonesia to get rid of the monuments, arguing that they were deemed detrimental to the bi-lateral diplomatic relations. This action has been resolutely condemned by the global Vietnamese diaspora.

The Galang Refugee Camp was a place where hundreds of thousands of refugees from Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos were assisted by the people and government of Indonesia and the United Nations High Commission for Refugees in their journey for freedom after their own countries had been taken over by the Communists in 1975.

Then on July 30 and August 2, 2009, according to the Jakarta Post in Indonesia, the Hanoi government renewed its pressure on the government of Indonesia, this time to take down the Galang Refugee Camp. This camp has been renovated and maintained over the last decades as a historical monument and a tourist attraction for local and foreign visitors.

WHEREAS the Galang Refugee Camp is a historical site which symbolizes the generosity and compassion of the people of Indonesia, the world community, and the United Nations High Commission for Refugees toward the Indochinese refugees in their desperate journey for freedom;

WHEREAS the Galang Refugee Camp has now become a heritage of Batam, one of the major local tourist attractions which is non-political in nature and which is not meant to have any detrimental impact on any individual, organization or country in the world;

WHEREAS the action on the part of the Hanoi government is a blatant interference into the internal affairs of Indonesia and the people of Batam;

WHEREAS the destruction of the Galang Refugee Camp will displace a symbol of recognition for the generosity and compassion of the people and government of Indonesia, the world community, and the United Nations High Commission for Refugees toward the Indochinese refugees in the past;

WHEREAS the destruction of the Galang Refugee Camp will lead to the loss of employment and income of the local tourist industry which is in its early development stage;

WHEREAS the destruction of the Galang Refugee Camp will deprive the local population of an important recreation facility which provides them with a precious environment for weekend relaxation;

WHERETOFORE, we solemnly declare to all freedom loving individuals and organizations including those with Vietnamese cultural and linguistic background in the world as follows:

1.	We condemn and protest against the intervention of the Hanoi government in the internal affairs of Indonesia aiming at creating difficulties and disturbances in the civil society of Indonesia and in the everyday life of its citizens;

2.	We support the well-justified decision of the local government, population, and businesses in Batam, Indonesia to preserve and develop the heritage of the Galang Refugee Camp;

3.	We appeal to the Indonesian government to continue supporting the Galang Refugee Camp as a historical monument symbolizing the spirit of generosity and compassion of the Indonesian people towards the Indo-Chinese refugees in their journey for freedom;

4.	We urge the United Nations High Commission for Refugees and UNESCO to recognize the Galang Refugee Camp as a historical and heritage site of the world;

5.	We appeal to all freedom loving individuals and organizations including those of Vietnamese background to voice their indignation toward the inhuman and immoral action of the Hanoi government, and to use all the available means to urge the Indonesian government to preserve this cultural, historical and humanitarian heritage site of Indonesia for the future generations

6.	Finally, we urge all Vietnamese organizations and communities in the world to view the incidents regarding the refugee monuments at Bidong and Galang in 2005 and the Galang Refugee Camp in 2009 within the wider context of other serious issues such as the land border and territorial waters concessions, Western Central Highlands mining exploitation, loss of Vietnamese islands and current religious repressions such as in Thai Ha, Tam Toa and Bat Nha, in order to join with other movements inside Vietnam to create a wave of indignation in order to unmask the dark intentions of the lying and inhumane Communist regime, and to contribute to the struggle for democracy, freedom and human rights for Vietnam and the protection of its territorial integrity.

Xét vì khu di tích Galang là một di sản mang tính lịch sử, là dấu tích của lòng nhân đạo của người dân và chính phủ Nam Dương, của các nhà hảo tâm trên thế giới, và những nỗ lực của Phủ Cao Uỷ Tị Nạn Liên Hiệp Quốc trong việc che chở, đùm bọc người tị nạn Đông Dương trong cuộc hành trình đi tìm tự do;

Xét vì khu di tích Galang nay đã là di sản của Batam, là một trong những trọng điểm du lịch trong và ngoài nước ở địa phương và hoàn toàn không có ý nghĩa chính trị cũng như không phương hại đến bất cứ cá nhân, tổ chức hay quốc gia nào trên thế giới;

Xét vì việc nhà cầm quyền Cộng Sản Việt Nam yêu sách Nam Dương triệt hạ khu di tích Galang là xâm phạm trắng trợn vào chủ quyền và can thiệp thô bạo vào công việc nội bộ của Nam Dương và của người dân tại Batam;

Xét vì việc triệt hạ khu di tích Galang cũng đồng nghĩa với việc phủ nhận lòng nhân đạo và sự đóng góp quý báu của người dân và chính phủ Nam Dương, của các nhà hảo tâm trên thế giới và của Phủ Cao Uỷ Tị Nạn Liên Hiệp Quốc đối với người tị nạn Đông Dương trong quá khứ;

Xét vì việc triệt hạ khu di tích Galang sẽ làm mất công ăn việc làm của nhiều người, làm giảm lợi tức của ngành du lịch còn đang trong thời kỳ phát triển phôi thai tại địa phương;

Xét vì việc triệt hạ khu di tích Galang sẽ làm mất đi trọng điểm du lịch tại địa phương và cư dân địa phương cũng thiếu đi chỗ ngơi nghỉ cần thiết vào cuối tuần sau những ngày làm việc mệt mỏi;

Vì những lý do nêu trên, chúng tôi long trọng tuyên cáo cùng tất cả các đồng hương Việt Nam trên thế giới như sau:

6.	Kêu gọi Cộng Đồng Người Việt, các Hội đoàn Đoàn thể người Việt khắp nơi trên thế giới liên kết sự kiện bia Tưởng niệm Bidong-Galang, sự kiện trại tị nạn Galang chung với tất cả những sự kiện khác như biên giới, hải đảo, lãnh hải, Tây nguyên, Thái Hà, Tam Tòa, Bát Nhã cùng với các phong trào trong nước để dấy lên làn sóng vũ bão lột mặt nạ chế độ Cộng Sản giả trá, độc ác vô nhân, đấu tranh cho Nhân Quyền, Tự do, Tín ngưỡng, Dân chủ, Chủ quyền và Toàn vẹn Lãnh thổ.

keep JROTC in SF

JROTC has been a part of the San Francisco high schools for about 90 years, but as of November 14, 2006, the school board has decided to take it away from the high schools. The main concerns against JROTC is about the war and how JROTC is related to the ARMY. However, what people lack is knowledge and experience in the program.

Although JROTC is based on the ARMY, JROTC is a totally different program than what is learned in the ARMY and ROTC in college. It is true that we march, drill, and learn some ARMY values, but this is by no means a place of recruitment.

There is commitment like any other sports team, responsibility like a summer job, leadership like student government, community service like a volunteer club, first aid and CPR. Most importantly, there is a sense of family-- a bringing of everyone together.

"JROTC has been more than just a place of leadership, teamwork, camarderie, skill, safety, etc... This is what I'm good at. This program makes me want to be responsible, want to be a leader, and want to care for others. JROTC is for me. NOT THE MILITARY." (Vienna Luu)

For the SF school board to take away JROTC from SF high schools in the future would be ripping our family apart. There is no other program of my knowledge that has all of these features combined.

"Our opponents cling to 15 year old statements and glittering generalities as evidence, while we have over one and half thousand current tales, and literally piles of books and documentation in our favor. Yet these few attackers, most of whom have no connection with the educations system, are given equal credibilty." (Daniel Chin and David Ziman)

Save Our Social Clubs for Disabled Children in Lincolnshire

Lincolnshire County Council (LCC) are making cuts to out of school services for disabled children in Lincolnshire. The social clubs for disabled children in Lincolnshire which are currently run by Action for Children ie. after-school clubs, holiday clubs, youth clubs, community groups and buddying will end in September.

The Lincolnshire County Council are looking at funding an alternative service for one year only and then after this there will be no more funding. Parents already pay a subsidised fee to attend these clubs but it is unlikely that any club would be sustainable without financial support from the council.

These cuts affect some of the most vulnerable members of our community - many of the children affected have severe mental and physical disabilities. The services currently provide independence for the children and social time with their friends in a safe and accessible environment with professionally trained staff as well as a much needed respite for carers and parents so that they can work, care for and support their children.

If these services stop it will have a devastating effect on the children and their families who will have to find alternative provision in a private sector which will neither be practical, affordable or give our children the interaction they so want with their own friends.
