I was a monthly donor for several years. On 12/29/2019 the non-profit I had worked for 21 years (Domestic & Sexual Violence counseling and SafeHouse for victims and their children) closed the door for lack of funding. On my way to unemployment, I received a call from a man asking me to increase my monthly ASPCA commitment. I explained my employment status and that I had 3 dogs and a cat. take care of. My cat and 2 of my dogs are rescues so I could not make an increase. He became very pushy and told me the animals ,need food and Vet care. I told him that making me feel guilty for not being able to give more was a mistake. The next day I had the auto payment to the ASPCA stopped. They are now directed to The Humane Society of the United States, The Humane Society International, WWF and a couple of others from time to time. Not the ASPCA.

I find the ASPCA ads to be a form of mental abuse and because they want to make me feel bad so that I will contribute to their cause I will never contribute. If they bothered to put out an ad showing the good that all their funds did then I would be more than happy to contribute.
