My husband and I were long term residents of Kenora, Ontario and feel that for too many years Kenora was ignored by the rest of Ontario, especially the government. Now, although we do not reside there we feel Kenora and all it's residents, old and young are being abandoned, especially in the area of medical care.

This change is poorly thought out. Thunder Bay is too far for patients from Kenora to have to travel,when Winnipeg is so much closer and accessible.

What are people with young children to do about their health issues, two adults will have to take time off work, one to drive and one to watch the child..and seniors will have to hire a driver..what about winter driving and who is to pay for a hotel and meals? You cannot drive to ThunderBay and back in a day, especially because we all know nothing runs on time in Ontario medical facilities!! Shame on you for even suggesting such a ridiculous idea. Why not just shut the True North Strong and Free, free...if you can't look after the people who live there, they cant stay....bigger cities and no one to populate the North..sounds grimm to me, shame on you all.

I am 87 years old and having worked for many years as a medical and legal secretary in Kenora I am shocked that this rule change was made when clearly it can and likely will incur costly legal challenges that OHIP can ill afford. Think again before patients die and your liability is determined through the Courts and Human Rights legislation.
