Now with the digital it is all or nothing and when the interference happens it is pixellation or nothing instead of static. Also, you would literally need an outdoor antenna to get in certain channels unlike in the analog days when they would get in just fine with little interference when there is good weather. Also not everyone can afford a new TV due to them being more expensive these days and the only way you could afford a converter box is literally if you go to Goodwill or something and not everyone could afford it in any other way than buying a used one there.
