If schools are going to integrate though, do NOT take all the trouble makers and stick them in another school. Send all different kinds of kids to the school. As for building new schools along town lines, yeah, that's a good idea.

My wife and son are Mexican and I am German/Italian. I cannot begin to tell you how ignorant Americans are of Mexican culture. We need more integration and cultural awareness in our schools! If schools don't teach it and parents ignore it or instill racism we will go furthur down the drain.

I love my high school and having all different type of friends. I don't judge people, I only judge them on if they're kind or not. I think going to a multicultural school helped me to be open-minded like this!

My children's school is multicultural and my children are exposed to many cultures both in and out of school. This should be for all children! My children are Hispanic and white.

If they don't allow schools right on town lines then I recommend putting the elementary school in one town and the middle school in the other town, but both very close by each other. I am 75 and never saw multiculturalism as important until my great grandchildren came along who are all Hispanic.

Multicultural schools are more than necessary! Schools should be built on town lines. Even if a school remains 100% of one race but becomes 50% poor and 50% middle class even that is diversity for a child.

Being a Puerto Rican mother of 2 boys in a 99% white school I have come to see, although an excellent school, the racial comments used by parents of my Latino children and of Black people, who don't exist in the community. An integrated school or more Black history in the school would be wonderful.

All children regardless of the type of school need a multicultural curriculum which includes history/culture of: African Americans, Asian,Native Americans, Latinos, and various European heritages. Regardless, children should be in schools that are blended (89% of 1 race or less). I cannot begin to tell you the number of racist things Syracuse and Buffalo suburb children believe as I have heard them, and corrected those myths, myself.
