One can not believe that a government organisation is actively restricting such an important market in this way. Fine to have limits, but not to make the means of policing the abiding by limits and regulations such an insidious secondary tax.

i cannot believe that someone in government thinks that an estate agent can actually have a successful show house with 6 boards, this is ludicrous. We are a soft target and have become easy prey for vengeful municipal staff who remove your boards one hour before show houses. I have seen photograghs of them measuring the distance from kerb to board in order to extract their fines. The general public are allowed to move estate agents boards with impunity, crazy. I spent months in Cape Town Magistrates Court after being charged with "fraud" finger printed like a common criminal because the Municipality policing staff believed I had made photo copies of my original stickers. After being embarrassed and having wasted months of time, the case was thrown out of court and charges dismissed. I still feel sick thinking about it and refuse to purchase stickers or do show houses in future. Where does the money go to anyway, is this just another tax? I have been an EA for 20 years and cannot believe how shockingly we are being treated. Ban stickers !!!

This is a redicilous levy that just ads to the expenses of running a real estate business and in my opinion just a money making idea from local goverment/municipalities. It is also hindering us from offering an exceptional service to our clients.

We are registered, professionals with regulating and representative bodies. Streets in my area are littered with unpaid board ads -all illegal. Boards & showhouses generate 30 to 50% of sales in our area. Buyers drive to areas where they want to live& phone off boards. Boards & stakes are lifted/fined or vandalised/stolen. We work with one hand behind our backs. Also - Council has to allocate manpower to regulate us. Rather collect debts and create safer parks & streets.
