He came from a bunked dorm to an open dorm and it has been hard especially since he was attached at Hays with sock locks and spent time in intensive care and Augusta State Prison. He has a drug problem and he was supposed to get treatment when he first entered the legal system but it was never addressed (although his probation officer ensured he paid his restitution and did his community service)--if he had received treatment like the state had ordered, his life may be different now. I see a great need to overhaul the GDC system to help inmates to reenter the community successfully. Yes, We give you our FULL support.

As the boys kidnapped the other 2 boys, one of them shot and killed one of the 2 being kidnapped. Although he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, he was convicted of murder as if he was the one that pulled the trigger and murdered the guy. He takes responsibility of knowing that he was in the wrong by hanging with those guys which he knew was trouble but never realized something like that would happen. Needless to say, he is doing a life sentence with the possibility of parole one day on something that he did not actually do. I think it's so unfair that he has had to do 17 years, and no telling how many more before the parole board will let him come home, on being an accomplice to a crime. It's a true shame that a person that molests a child only has to do a few years in prison and then released back into society to do it again where as someone that made a mistake when he was only a kid due to being young and not matured yet has to suffer the rest of their life.

Do you know I can't even get contact lenses to my loved one or glasses. And I must say, I am stunned by the gross injustice of a sentence that over-reaches far beyond what would be considered reasonable and rational. How can this be justified? The results are the economic destruction of a family as they struggle to pay for attorneys along with the emotional damage that has been done to them in the process. There is no fairness in this. The punishment has swung far and wide for what was a very dubious crime -- if there was a crime at all. Who is getting points for putting Daniel away? It makes me wonder and I don't like the conclusions that come to mind.
