It is an overpopulated play area. Also, with the extension of Century Blvd and the projected increase in traffic, the proposed safety measures will be necessary.

However, children between the ages of 6-12 don't have any age appropriate equipment to play on. Expanding this park will allow for play structures addressing all the way up to 12 years old, so that these kids *(sadly mine included) don't seek out dangerous ways to play on the existing equipment.

Adding a perimeter fence is also extremely important, as the volume of traffic along Century Boulevard is expected to increase with competition the future Century Boulevard Extension project, which is slated to begin in 2021.
