I think that carers that live interstate should not have to uproot their lives to get custody of the child. If a person has more than one child in care they should not be allowed to have any more children.

Most of the problems we experience in these matters are due to the incompetence of govt depts.eg FSA and the stupid laws to which Certrelink have to follow.

I believe there should be a way to stop these mothers continually having more babies and stop having the government pay for those. These children never asked for this. If the mother's sort themselves out and want to be mothers, then I think they should have that right but stop having more until their lives are sorted.

This is a very serious problem that ripples through the community. If the child is lucky enough to have grand parents (as in my friends case) take over the care of a child that is born to a drug addicted and clearly negligent mother, than the goverment should be doing every thing in their power to protect the chils and remove it from this enviroment. The mother should not recieve any benefits as the child is no longer in their care. The people who have taken on care should recieve the benefit.

I agree with the comments made on this subject, as I am a relative carer, and belive somthing needs to be done on this, to stop the system from failing the children. I also belive that there would be alot more carers coming forward to help if the children could be adopted after two years. The Goverment needs to rethink the baby bonus, as there is alot of teenagers out there gettting pregnant for the money, then welfare is left to pick up the pieces.
