I know of many families that are on the waiting list in hopes that the program will open. I have seen families lose loved ones while they are waiting on the list. People that are qualified for the program are passing away because of their lack of care. There is other areas the Governor can cut, the aged and disabled waiver program is the only resources some of the folks in WV have to help them. It takes both spouses working now to make a living. That means there are so many loved ones that go without help. This program allows people to work and maintain their life style while caring for their loved one when they are home. So many elderly are going without meals, going without doctor visits, going without baths, and living in an unclean and unsafe environment because they do not have anyone to help them while their family members are working. Some people do not have a good informal support system available to them and a caregiver is their only way of making it. This program has been on hold for so long, please lift the hold so the aged and disable people in our state can once again be able to live safely in their homes. Thank you!
