Mrs Christine Dolle, Putney, NSW, Australia
I have previously emailed Ryde City Council, as suggested by a council worker when I initially rang, to object to this proposal - no response was received. I believe this proposal is a complete overreaction to a minor issue which could be dealt with by simply asking for neighbourhood cooperation by removing cars onto driveways on Sunday evenings where possible. Even so, council contractors should be able to navigate the street to empty bins - this has not been an issue previously. If they cannot service the bins in the dark, they should simply do so after 7.30am instead of 5.30am, or find drivers with experience in streets where street parking is really an issue, such as Glebe, Balmain, all the inner eastern suburbs. Donnelly is not so narrow as to require any such extreme actions as those that council is proposing.
