It seems to me that Sunova could find another way to be acknowledged for its contribution without expunging such an important tribute to such an important person in the town's history. Orville Acres worked tirelessly to help make the town a place where hockey and skating thrived. His commitment and dedication, his passion for the town, for the kids and for the sport do not deserve to be forgotten.

The Board and friends have raised so much more money than the Sunova grant could offer. This arrangement or monies is not worth the anxiety it has caused in the community and to the Acres family; and we all know it.

Orville was a very influential man in Pinawa for hockey and still is today. To take away the name that honors him and what he was would be a terrible shame. His family and the community need to keep the legacy alive and not touch the sign, but think of something else they could do to contribute to the arena on the inside.

I can't understand the reasoning behind this. Why would Sunova want to purchase the name of the arena. Leave the name alone. Orville did a lot for this community and people would be really angry if this happened. How do you think the Acres family would feel???

I had the honor of playing for and learning to referee from Mr. Acres - honoring him by naming the arena after him shows the type of character we want to promote in the youth - that hard work is respected and recognized not that money can buy what ever we want.

I don't understand why people would change the name of an arena that most people in the province will never set foot in. It is an important name to those who have grown up and call Pinawa home. PLEASE leave the name alone.

1st of all, I can't believe that Sunova Credit Union would even THINK to ask to change the name of the arena to their name ..and 2nd, I think it is appalling that the Arena board would even remotely consider this and to sell out!! Then to ask the the Acres family how they feel about it is beyond comprehension! I am speechless!! ...I certainly hope the saying is not true ...that ..."Everything has a price!!"
