I think that this can only be done by closing problem venues and letting the village contract to a select few straight friendly venues. Whilst I'd like to see better quality shops, markets and public spaces serving the community I wouldn't want to create a gay only ghetto - that would not help our fight for equality. The village has and always will be a place for hedonism - is it right to expect anything else from it? I don't know. Pride is a sham and only lines the pockets of the greedy instead of providing for the needy - it seems like the world jumped on the gay bandwagon and now the parties over noone wants to help clear up. If that means that the LGBT community can start to reclaim the village as their own then great, but any help in tidying up the mess can only be a good thing.

How can pride had £1 million income through pride and just raised £50,000 for charity I think its disgusting. We should be having Manchester Gay & lesbian axe supporting the Gay Community and specially the younger generation. As I feel the Gay Community should be more involved about how pride getting ran. I would love to see pride move out of the village as some people at the town hall have been negative about the drinking culture within the village. but Manchester city council & the Gay and Lesbian society need to look at there selves regarding this. With them fencing so many people within the village with so many bars and so few other events so they are more and happy with the drinking culture over pride as long as they are making the pink pound. And also people safety within the village is a major concern of mine with more straight men coming into the village for taxis and take ways causing trouble
