I am opposing the building of a new school at Parc Arrael Griffin because the site is just not suitable to have anything built on it - the local logistics are all wrong too as the roads in the area are way too narrow for buses - there would be major disruption for the people that live in Lancaster Street, Arrael Street & Griffin Street, which is NOT acceptable! This site would be far better left as somewhere for local people to enjoy as it is now... a Memorial Area to those Miners that died. People from far and wide DO come to see the Guardian Angel and spend time in both Six Bells & Abertillery bringing much needed revenue to area. The Leisure Centre site would be much better utilised for said school as it is closer to two of the other schools that would be affected by all the changes proposed.

There is at least two suitable appropriate, and ideally located areas of waste/ derelict land (old Leisure Centre old LoCost site within close proximity to the schools that are to merger Bryngwyn and Queen Street , The Borough Council and Welsh Assembly Government should seriously consider these sites as better alternatives for better access routes and without destroying what has become a memorial site to those who lost their lives in the Six Bells Disaster and the wider mining community, The old Leisure Centre (in part) was declared unsafe, so why is this not to be demolished ( before some child meets with an unfortunate of even fatal accident) this would be an ideal location for the long awaited Train Station for Abertillery and the new school should be built on the old LoCost site with good access routes available from both Castle Street and Aberbeeg Road resulting in less congestion on school runs and it appears there would be ample space for parking for both staff and visitors alike , forward thinking BG CBC and W A G . This Six Bells site is a memorial and should remain the very same . the LoCost site is more practical and viable and sensible option .

It's a place to remember the family members lost not a school that will sink like abertillery comprehensive school and and the old abertillery leisure centre. When will the council realize old pits are not meant to be built on.
