I am a victim of child sexual abuse and my daughter has also been a victim recently. I do NOT think that paedofiles should have protection rights, they should be named and shamed and our community and kids should be protected, not the offenders. We have rights as victims and we the victims should be protected. If we continue to protect the offenders they are not being taught a lesson and will offend/re-offend as they know they are protected and have ALL the rights!!The they should be on death sentence or taken to a remote island never to be released, as it is proven that child sex offenders re-offend after rehabilitation as they can not be fixed or change their ways they are born that way and will keep re-offending, we have tried rehabilitation for them for many many years with the statistics proving that they re-offend. I demand the rights as a victim and the mother of a victim, that we need to bring Megans Law to Australia and protect us victims and our community/children, i would like to know if I am living near or I am with a partner that has offended, to ensure the safety of my children I believe I have the rights, not the offenders to be protected!!Victims are innoncent!!!!

Paedophiles can not be rehabilitated so the government needs to make their whereabouts more transparent. My brother is a convicted paedophile and when we reported him to the authorities (when his daughter was 3-4yrs old) they only interviewed him and said he did not have a case to answer. That little girl is now 24 and states he molested her for 11 years and he is free to do it again and again.

History tells us that it is very likely that most (if not all) convicted sex offenders and paedophiles will re-offend, many soon after they are released. Australians should have a right to feel safe and to be able to take precautions to protect themselves and their families for known (and possible) hazards including convicted sex offenders and paedophiles.

It is ridiculous that sex offenders can enter the community to reoffend. They have all the protection of the law but as parents we have no rights, even to know the facts of a criminal case, if we suspect a person is a sex offender. Recently our family endured hours of interviews with DHS, just because we happen to buy milk from a "known" sex offender..how exactly is that fair, that we can have our lives and privacy turned upside down and yet, this person be protected under privacy laws.

I only found this out as his house was today raided by the police and computer equipment and other items were removed. Was there pictures of my kids or their friends in his house? it has just been discovered that a parent of a pupil in my child's class who is a convicted sex offender has been charged on 50 odd counts of threatening to kill, harrassment and stalking. Surely, this person should have never been allowed to be near any of the children or parents or staff. we do not know the extent of the emotional damage acquired, i shudder to think. What a gamble to take allowing a disturbed consistent re-offender into our school,community and into our children's lives.

Having a child who was sexually abused by her stepfather (but it couldn't be proven) I believe it is essential that the public knows where these offenders are. It's hard enough to protect your children from the ones that aren't known - why wouldn't we arm parents with as much knowledge to protect their children as possible?
