Legalising cannabis could potentially end the loss of loved ones due to cancer. The earth has provided us a natural and inexpensive cure for most diseases. Pointing guns and locking people in cages is not the answer. Cannabis along with any other (currently) illicit drugs have life-changing and miraculous medicinal value. I would like to see full legalisation (there are already laws to prevent people from harming one another, consumption of substances is a victimless crime and a personal freedom and choice). However, the legalisation of cannabis for medicinal purposes would be a great start, these are people who truly need it. My mother had cancer and went through chemotherapy when I was 9 and I could see her slowly dying and in so much agony she was unable to enjoy the short time she had left with her family. Maybe if cannabis was legalised she would still be here or at the very least she could have enjoyed her final months and not have to spend every last minute in the hospital or bed ridden and unable to communicate from the suffering. It is a very silly situation, I hope that you know the history of cannabis prohibition and what led to it and if not research it, it was in no way shape or form because of a public health concern. It is time to stop only thinking about the money and start doing something for people who need it most.

If we have managed to legalise and tax a poisonous substance which is the result of thousands of deaths each year and the hospitalization of many due to alcohol related incidents. How can the government still believe that marijuana is a dangerous substance? Not only does it alleviate symptoms such as; nausea, loss of appetite, pain and insomnia. But it has also been stated several times from very well known publications and media entertainment that there have been no recorded deaths from a marijuana overdose in the thousands of years that man has been smoking it.

Not only that but if you can tax the substance and control the quality of the it, Australia will have more job opportunities and another taxable source. Which means we can help get the country out of debt and the unemployment numbers will reduce meaning tax payers won't be supporting other members of society.

In conclusion, a better quality of life for people with medical conditions. Recreational users won't be branded as scum and/or criminals. There will be less criminal violence over money disputes. It will stimulate the economy, increase the number of tourists and the public will love you for it.
