For a show about helping victims, and showing that the police really do care, the show has made it a point since season 13, when Leight replaced Neal Baer as show runner, to have Olivia Benson beaten, kidnapped, tortured, and raped, all of which trigger, hurt, or otherwise cause pain to real life victims and survivors, among the dubious choices that Leight allows to be green lit, from having attorneys tell clients and rape and abuse victims to "lie back and pretend to enjoy it" to telling fictional characters, and essentially, to the audience of very real women, men, and children, that the law isn't on their side, and maybe they should just give up. Timeslot, competition, th network (NBC), as of recently with TV by the Numbers, "anti-fans". SVU is just 'fair' under his supervision, it's roller-coastering in the ratings and in it's quality; one week SVU is up in the ratings and the episode sucks, the next week ratings falter and it's a decent episode.</p> <p>Now, I only watch SVU for guest stars that I might want to see perform. Like Lauren Cohan was on last week, she did alright. I love Raul Esparza, but I can't catch him in all the SVU eps. because when the promo looks stupid, the ep. usually is ("Friending Emily", "Presumed Guilty", Funny Valentine" to name a few) and I avoid it.</p> <p>Warren Leight needs to flip back through SVU's history book to their earlier chapters. These new chapters are certainly not up to par with them. I really didn't have a problem with the 13th season, the plots and cases were better than the prior recent seasons reaching as far back as seson 8. I liked Pino & Kelli Giddish's arrivals in the wake of Meloni departing, I even liked EADA Haden as Liv's boyfriend.</p> <p>Season 14 on the other hand, I rank it as the 2nd worst season of SVU, season 11 still is the worst to me followed by season 9 as the 3rd worst, season 8 as the fourth, IMO. Warren Leight has followed in Neal Baer's footsteps fairly quickly when it comes down to the episode quality, which is draining and dull. The casting of Mike Tyson was just wrong in itself but what's worse, Warren Leight (along w/ Dick Wolf & the network) ignored thousands of people who were against this. I woke up in the middle of the night thinking a rapist was coming in my house, but the thud was from my heater kicking on (which it does all the time). This casting of Tyson has upset me deeply (and I'm glad to see others feel the same) so today I decided I was going to sign the petitions against both Tyson on show and the one against the people responsible for him being cast, it's the right thing to do.</p> <p>How do Warren Leight, Dick Wolf, and co. sleep at night knowing that they've set so many victims back? It's just wrong on so many levels and it has set new lows for my one time favorite show, not just for Mariska, Chris, and even Danny, but for the cases of the week (which are not even about sex crimes anymore). I watched L&O: CI, I loved it under Mr. Leight but SVU, I do not; he's made it into a LOCI carbon copy.</p> <p>I do hope NBC does the right thing and pulls Tyson's episode.
