I think it is unhealthy and absurd not to have recess in the schools here in FL. We just moved from Idaho where they have a lot of common sense and still have recess in the schools. My daughter excelled in the school there--she even skipped second grade. Having only been enrolled a couple days here, I can already see a change in her personality. The children in her school do not look happy at all. We are already looking to move out of this state.

They are doing algebra and essays in 4th grade-9 year olds! They only have three 15 minute recesses per week. How does anyone expect children to do nothing but sit still & listen & work all day long? Working adults get more break time than that! When are they supposed to socialize & make friends? They need time & space to RUN and burn off energy for their mental & physical health. Unstructured play is vital for development!
