If it had been used as an experiment in Rocky Mount during the City Council Election it is a possibility that Lois Watkins would have been defeated.

Once it has a proven track record as a fully automated system I will support and advocate for its use.

Ms. Janice Sears, Knightdale, NC, United States of America
Instant Runoff is a bad idea. It complicates the ballot and complicates vote counting. People in North Carolina have trouble remembering to vote for President on our current ballot--highest undervotes nationwide--we don't need to make it worse. And we have enough trouble counting votes as it is--multiple counties reported thousands of votes twice in the last primary election without this additional complication. Let's keep our voting system auditable and transparent.

Mrs Heidi Gury, Raleigh, NC, United States of America
I prefer Range Voting, or even just Approval Voting, over Instant Runoff Voting. Both Range and Approval voting are cheaper and easier to implement using current voting machines (Approval voting is the least complicated, fyi). Also, both Range and Approval voting are less prone to error, plus they are verifiable by citizen auditors, whereas IRV is not. For an executive summary of pros and cons, refer to RangeVoting.org/IrvExec.html
