Ryrie Street is the main street in the Geelong CBD. It has been hit by a endless stream of HUGH trucks. We need to save Ryrie st and bring business back.

We have endured constant vibration of shop windows due to the very large trucks. Because the trucks are so loud and noisy customers have difficulty hearing and my staff and myself cannot hear whilst on the phone. Many customers are constantly complaining because the large trucks and other transport vehicles are making it very difficult and dangerous to park. There has also been constant screeching of breaks when these vehicles approach nearby traffic lights. My staff and myself are left going home at the end of each day with headaches and are left feeling nauseous because of the very loud noises and large amounts of fumes.

On several occasions I have been tooted & nearly side swiped trying to exit from my vehicle from Disabled Parking bay at the corner of Ryrie & Gheringhap St. The large transport vehicles have no patients for the disabled who are slower at moving. I need to open the drivers side door widely to exit the vehicle & I fear mine & many more drivers with a disability are at risk with a major retail street turned into a transport thoroughfare. Ryrie Street need to enable all pedestrians to visit retailers in the street in safety and not endanger the more vulnerable & everyone else in the community by having truck that have no intention of supporting local traders.

To whomever may concern, the increase of road noise and pollution by the extra trucks travelling in Ryrie Street is coursing me great concern . As if retail is not tuff anough, We now frequently have to ask customers to repeat themselves due to the noise. We are determined to trade with our doors open as we have done so since 1999 but the increase of road dust onto our products is significant , please , please find another solution to this terrible situation. The small initial increase in Saturday traffic due to free parking seems now to have worn off. If this extra trucking will continue , it will finish off this part of the CBD . Attracting new tenants for the many empty buildings around us will be very difficult in a street overrun with noisy stinking trucks. Sharing the load with Malop street worked quite well before this trial.

The truck noise starts at 5am. I cannot sleep through this noise so I have to get up at 5am. Many of the trucks are speeding and running RED lights. I see this every day. Many trucks weigh 23tonns or more some one will die from this very soon. Also many towns/city have "hospital please keep noise down" signs. Well it's bad luck for geelong hospital as noise has tripled. Don't you care about the hospital?

Our Daughter, Son in law and grandchildren live on Ryrie street and we find the truck's to be a concern for our grandchildren's safety. We also find when visiting that the noise is excessive especially when the trucks use their air brakes.

As a business owner in Ryrie St it is imperative that we find an alternative route for heavy vehicles. The retail area around Ryrie St & Moorabool St has been suffering for some years now due the migration towards Westfield and Malop St. Heavy vehicles are not the cause of this but they certainly aren't helpful in attracting shoppers and business operators back to this very important area of our city.

I work in a retail shop on Ryrie Street. The excessive noise, dust, diesel fumes and pollution caused by the added truck traffic is making me ill. The shop is covered in black dust daily and I have to breathe this air! Shop cleaning has to be done all the time now. Traffic congestion at La Trobe Terrace is awful and hampers emergency vehicles.

Geelong City Council is making too many decisions that greatly affect its residents without any real insight or thought for them. We,who live on Ryrie, have put up with this mish mash of scatterbrain ideas for over 30 years that we have been here.Trucks through the city,past Geelong High,on a single lane in many instances,please come to your senses.This could be a wonderful mecca for a rural city on the bay,we have all the attributes except a council that will work for their citizens,not against them.

We live on Ryrie Street. The volume of traffic particularly at peak hours and school pick up times is very heavy. The increased volume of industrial haulage will further clog a major arterial road and further raise the risk of serious accidents and traffic gridlock. We are near the school crossing to Geelong High School.
